CARDINAL BERGOGLIO ELECTED AS POPE FRANCIS I
WIll be known as Pope Francis I.
Cardinal Bergoglio has been elected as our new Holy Father! Habemus Papam!
Bergoglio was the cardinal Archbishop of Buenos Aries, Argentina.
The new pope was elected after just 2 days of voting by the cardinals, which is considered fast for the modern Church.
St. Peter's Square is packed and cheery, yet there is a sense of reservation and discipline as thousands of people are packed together in the square. There remains a sense of awe and a sense of reverence at this most solemn and holy moment.
Few men in modern times want to be pope. The massive responsibility of serving as the spiritual leader of 1.2 billion people and constant demands of the work are hard on both the mind and body.
However, as Catholics we understand that popes are called forth by God and any man who holds the title and responsibility of office is also buoyed and inspired by the Holy Spirit in the work they do.

People love him because he's a humble, true man of God. We love him in Argentina and I know he's gonna be loved all over the world. God bless you, Pope Francis!!!!
eventhough ive never been where this man is from,,,,i feel so happy to welcome him in my world of faith...i stongly support anyone who stands as our holy father eversince no one from my world(country)can qualify as a member of this election and that is the point why i agreed to any decision made by the group of cardinals...
Katarina why disappointed? Dont be disappointed ok many people are yet to know this ok. And as to the new pope statement, someone who will deliver dont talk to much ok
I can't describe in words my feelings, but when I heard the news of our new pop it made me extremely happy inside.
I am very disappointed in the election of this man as the leader of the Church. I also didn't hear excitement coming from the crowd when his name was announced nor in his words to the people.
Very disappointing.
