CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (Catholic Online) - Exsurge, Domine.  Arise, O Lord.  Have mercy on us, God of all, and behold us and show us the light of your mercies.  Send your fear upon those nations that have not sought after you: that they may know that there is no God beside you, and they may witness to your wonders.  Lift up your hand over the pagan nations, that they may see your power.  You have shown your holiness through what happened to us, so now let us see your great power in acting among them that they may know you as we also have known you, that there is no God but you, O Lord. 

Give us new signs, and work fresh wonders.  Glorify your hand, and your right arm.  Raise up in furor, and pour out your wrath.  Take away the adversary, and crush the enemy.  Hasten the time, and remember the end, that they may declare your wonderful works.  Let him that escapes be consumed by the rage of your fire: and let them who oppress your people perish.  Crush the head of the princes of the enemies that say: there is no other but us. 

Gather together all the tribes of Jacob, all those who proclaim your Jesus as Lord, that they may know that there is no God but you, and may declare your great works: and give them back your inheritance as from the beginning.  Have mercy on your people, upon whom your name is invoked: and upon the New Israel, Holy Mother Church, whom you have raised up to be your Bride.  Have mercy on the New Jerusalem, the City of God which you have sanctified with your Most Precious Blood, the City where you rest.

Fill the New Zion with your unspeakable words, and your people with your glory.

Remember especially at this time when the Church of Rome is sede vacante, O Lord, that when you were about to ascend to your Father, you committed the care, rule, and administration of the vineyard, an image of the triumphant Church, to Peter, as the head and your vicar, and through Peter all his successors. 

Give testimony to them that are your creatures from the beginning, and raise up the prophecies and holy words which the former prophets and saints spoke of in your name.  Reward them that patiently wait for you, that your prophets and saints may be found faithful: and hear the prayers of your servants, according to the blessing of our former Pope Benedict XVI over your people, and direct us into the way of justice and righteousness.  And let all the earth know that dwell upon the earth, that you are God, the beholder of all ages.  (Cf. Ecclus. 36:1-19)

We entreat you most humbly, O Lord, that your boundless mercy may give the holy Roman Church a Pontiff to replace our beloved Benedict XVI, one whose loving care in our regard will always be pleasing to you, and by his beneficent rule will always give glory to your name and be deeply honored by your people. Through our Lord, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, world without end.  Amen.

Exsurge, Petre.  Arise Peter.  O Prince of the Apostles, you who were chosen by the Lord Jesus as the first Rock upon which his Church would be built, who promised the Lord that you loved him and that you would feed his sheep, and who, with the twelve apostles are seated upon thrones next to the glorious throne upon which the Son of Man sits, and shall judge the twelve tribes of Israel, fulfill you pastoral office divinely entrusted to you even while in heaven.  Let us recall, blessed Peter, how you taught us to come to, and believe in, Jesus, the living cornerstone laid in Zion, chosen and precious in the sight of God though rejected by men, and thereby to be like living stones.  Let us recall how you urged us to allow ourselves to be built into a spiritual house to be a chosen race, a royal and holy priesthood, a holy nation, a people of God's own, to announce the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light, to see ourselves as aliens and sojourners and keep away from worldly desires that wage war against the soul, and to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Thereby, you advised us, we would not be put to shame.  (Cf. 1 Pet. 2:4-12)  Give heed, Blessed Peter, to the cause of the holy Roman Church, mother of all churches and teacher of the faith, whom you by the order of God, have consecrated by your blood.  Amen.
