Anglican Catholic Church of Canada Votes Overwhelmingly to Unite with Rome

7/29/2010

Synod, the Acting Treasurer (Bishop Carl Reid) pointed out the need for continued support from parishes and individuals in maintaining the operations of the Diocese. As well, the need for more effective communication between the Diocesan Office and the parishes (rectors and wardens) was stressed, together with the requirement for Parishes to submit to the Diocesan Office timely and updated information on the names and addresses of the parish officers along with other vital parochial statistics.

To ensure that the Restricted Funds of the Diocese are protected from any potential litigation against the Diocese, the Diocesan Council voted to move the funds and investment portfolios of the two Trust funds established by Synod 2007 out of the Diocese accounts into separate accounts held directly by the Trustees of the two Trusts (i.e., the Bishop de Catanzaro Memorial Fund for clergy education and training, administered by the Board of Regents of St. Bede's Anglican Catholic Theological College; and the Bishopric Endowment Fund for the support of the office of the Metropolitan).

In closing, may I say that the focus of this Synod, as with that of previous Synods, was the worship and praise of Almighty God (made even more beautiful by the presence at this Synod of our own Cathedral Choir, Choirmaster and Organist); the proclamation of Christ's saving Truth; and faithful witness to the faith, order and discipline to Christ's one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.

Those in attendance came away from Synod 2010 with a renewed sense of optimism for the future and a clear vision for the present. With the overwhelming support of clergy and laity for unity with the See of Peter and the establishment of a Canadian Anglican Catholic Ordinariate, our Diocese is now able to move forward united, renewed, and hopeful.

May we continue to be one in proclaiming the truth in Christ Jesus our Saviour, and pass the same on unimpaired to future Anglican Catholics here and around the world.

The Very Reverend Shane B. Janzen, OSG DD
Dean and Rector

Just to clarify to any who do not know who the Anglican Catholic Church is, she is not the Anglican Church headed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, she is most definitely a section of the Holy Catholic Church, which broke away from the Anglican Church of Canada when that apostate organization began ordaining women, which was the first step toward its present apostacy. In the USA the ACC came into existence when women began to be ordained in the Protestant Episcopal Church (The Big Episcopal Church) the ACCUS, of which I am a communicate member, is a very tiny church not tied in any way, except tradition, with the Anglican Church headed by Rowan Williams. Because of the lack of a monastic core to the ACCUS, I am presently contemplating converting to Eastern Orthodoxy, I honestly reluctant to join the RCC because I believe it is still full of priests with homosexual orientation. If all of them were defrocked, which is what should happen, the RCC in America most likely would be unable to operate due to the logistical problems caused by an enormous shortage of priests. Part of me really wants to be a Roman Catholic, but for me to take the plunge the leadership would truly have to utterly sack the still strong "lavender mafia" in the Church, It is not God's will for homosexuals to be ordained---period.

Following the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and discerning the will of God is not easy for all men to comprehend; much less to logically analyze. However, for all of the above reasons which speak to the weaknesses of our current societies--- worldwide, it comes as no surprise that this would eventually happen with the Anglican community of Jesus Christ. Perhaps the Canadian Anglican leadership understand, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life", better than those who question this latest news report. Praise You, Jesus

What joyful news that we are beginning to see the answer to Christ's own prayer that "all be one Father as You and I are one"! It is wonderful to behold and gives me great hope that not only will Christians unite, but the scandal caused by our division will begin to mend, and those sitting in the darkness of a life without faith will see and receive the very light of Christ! May the witness of His children united in faith and charity bring about the realization of the ending of this very same prayer of Jesus "I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me." Amen!

    Hi friends,
I would beg you not to slander those in the Protestant faith... although we are siblings that have quarrelled, we too, take a stand against most of the things that you do: abortion, euthanasia, same sex marriage, ordination of women. I know that many denoms in the Protestant realm have faltered, but some Catholics have, too, right? Perhaps the Anglican Church is not the end of the story?! Maybe that is just the beginning and you need to brace yourself with how the Almighty is going to bless us!!! I know many Catholic brothers and sisters that feel like I do; that one day, perhaps in my lifetime, God will bring mainstream Protestants and Catholics back together. We can agree to disagree on some things that are not necessary for salvation, can't we?
So please don't slander us... I love you all and I also keep Protestants accountable to respect and honor you. We have had our differences, but the blood of Jesus is powerful and it heals us all. We can be stronger together than apart, my friends. BELIEVE!!! :-)

    JustUs:

No worries. To join The Catholic Church, they are accepting the sma source of authority that you do: The Magsterium, The Pope, etc. They are in full communion with Rome - in short- they believe what you believe across the board.

Now, they will very likely maintain some liturgical or traditional markers unique to the Anglican Church, no differently than the different Rites included in The Catholic Church already (Byzantine, Maronite, etc.)...Often there is much that is reverant and beautiful that those of us in the Latin Rite of The Catholic Church would like to see reintegrated in our liturgy.
