St. Mary Magdelene Comments
She is called "the Penitent". St. Mary was given the name 'Magdalen' because, though a Jewish girl, she lived in a Gentile town called Magdale, in northern Galilee, and her culture and manners were those of a Gentile. St. Luke records that she was a notorious sinner, and had seven devils removed from her. She was present at Our Lords' Crucifixion, and with Joanna and Mary, the mother of James and Salome, at Jesus' empty tomb. Fourteen ... Continue Reading

this does not not give me information i want
I am not Catholic, I am not even religious, but I am tracing back my family history and note my g/grandparents who were married in the Catholic church, named their first born son FRANCIS JAMES ST MARY WARD. I am curious to know if this was a common occurrence, to name a male child St Mary .....?
I like her for she is a good example to each of us.
why doesn't this tell when she was born and died
st.mary magdalene is an inspirational saint.she is an example for those who lost hope, for those who think that there is no more time to change and for those who wants to correct what is wrong.she shows that even she is a sinner she still wants to be a follower of christ.the message is,it is not yet too late to say sorry for those sins we have committed...
St. Mary Magdalene was also my Saint of choice for my confirmation. I chose her because of who she was and what she represents. She hears all of our prayers and supports our prayers to our Holy Father. Do not lose faith or hope as these were the very qualities that made her great. Do not despair, she hears you and knows what is in your heart. Peace be with you.
What a wonderful saint!
Don't lose hope in her - she prays for you. Pray you are open to God's will - which is sometimes so difficult to accept. By being here makes me think that you are a person of great faith so please, keep your faith. St. Mary Magdelene is with you. Remember, she has loved much! She loves you! May God bless you richly.
To K.katlego:
Do not lose hope. When you trust and believe, when darkness embraces and your faith remains intact; rest assure He will save you and bring you to light. It is, however, on His terms and at His time. Perhaps what you ask for is not in your best interest. Peace.
Mary is a powerful example for us. However, Nicholas is wrong to say she is the "sole pillar" of Christianity. Christianity is founded by and on GOD. The foundation is the prophets and the apostles (Eph 2:20). To deform Mary into something else is an attack on the basics of the faith, as is done in the Da Vinci Code. Christianity doesn't need Mary; Mary needed Christ - as we all do.
Pray for us, Mary of Magdala.
I very much enjoy learning each day about the many saints.
Many thank from London, England
