St. John of God, your impulsive response to the promptings of the Holy Spirit brought you much sufferings and great tests of endurance. Much is the price you paid.You endured being beaten and "imprisoned" with lunatics. You were laughed and scorned at. Amazingly, your journey with Christ brought you to become the founder of the Order of the Hospitallers. Pray for us, poor sinners on our pilgrimage on this earth. Our son is an alcoholic who went to rehab for 37 days and stayed sober 60 days then picked up a drink. HE does not have a job due to leaving to go to rehab. His girlfriend cannot take any more he is mean when drinking. She is planning onb leaving him for good but he is not bone to be alone and is talking suicide. With no job or money he wilolo have no place to live and Iam afraid he will commit suicide. Please keep him in your prayers that he goes back to sobriety and his girlfriend stays with him.

Never heard of him until one of my friends, upon hearing that I have just been diagnosed with serious heart problems, sent me a Saint John of God medal and a card with the prayer to Saint John of God on the back. I am one of those people who always 'rationalizes' myself out of doing good works of mercy. Perhaps the Holy Spirit and Saint John of God will inspire me to do things a bit more impulsively for the sake of others, and as Saint John said 'for the good of myself'. God help me and bless you all.
