Francesco, named in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, was born to Giuseppa and Grazio Forgione, peasant farmers, in the small Italian village of Pietrelcina on May 25, 1887. Padre Pio, I Thank GOD for giving us such a Saint as yourself and how you responded to GOD's invitation in your life to follow him. Padre Pio, I ask for your intercession in understanding my own calling from Jesus and the next step I should take in my own life. When I read these postings where people feel so alone and hopeless it brings deep sorrow to my heart and an intense knot inside of me and tears, as if at that moment I am experiencing what they are feeling, for I understand where they are at in their mind and their heart, for I have been there in my own long suffering. I ask Padre Pio that you intercede to Jesus for me to understand more fully my role on this earth for I have seen and experienced God's answering my prayers, and I unite my prayer with you and all people that are close to losing hope. But I know there is a sweetness to picking up my cross and following Christ, I ask for your intercession to do that more completely as Christ is calling me. I also ask Padre Pio that you intercede to Jesus and that I follow Christ in this latest challenge in my life and that everything will work out as Jesus wants.
