St. Martin de Porres Comments

St. Martin de Porres was born at Lima, Peru, in 1579. His father was a Spanish gentleman and his mother a coloured freed-woman from Panama. At fifteen, he became a lay brother at the Dominican Friary at Lima and spent his whole life there-as a barber, farm laborer, almoner, and infirmarian among other things. Martin had a great desire to go off to some foreign mission and thus earn the palm of martyrdom. However, since this was not possible, ... Continue Reading

I'm a 10 year old boy attending the San Fernando Boys Roman Catholic School in Trinidad. I got a project to do about St Martin de Porres and the information on your site was everything required. I was really touched when I read that he loved animals and so do I and that I was chosen to do research on him.

I have prayed too St. Jude for a long time I made many promises to him but wouldn't be committed. Its been a while since I've asked for something but now that I'm asking for a miracle I feel he won't listen to me because, I haven't been committed. I've lost hope and faith and even though I pray and pray I can't get any signs. St. Martin de Porres I saw your statue at church this past Friday and I just glanced at you but now I ask of your help. Please give me a sign its been 2 years with him and he's not giving me any commitment. If he is for me bring him back but please help me change his ways please let him see that the drinking, partying, and his friends aren't a life. I have forgiven his infidelity, drug use, and his past. I am not the blame for his past and I've showed him I really do love him and his son. I beg of you please give me a sign someway or another just let me feel some sort of direction. I ask you St. Martin de Porres and God for my forgiveness for all my sins I've confessed many times to God but I repeatedly feel guilty everyday and I can't forgive myself. I don't know if this is Karma but I want to be happy and want him to realize that I have nothing but loyal love towards to him. Pray for me and PLEASE help me! If this miracle is successful I will gladly give a testimony of this because I think this world has forgotten the existence of miracles and testimonies. God Bless!

My mum always prayed to St Matin de Porres as she was given a picture of this saint by her brother who was a priest.

My eldest sister had Tuberculosis when she was at school and it was very contagious therefore all in the family were not well and my mum kept praying to St Matin de Porres.

He heard my mum's prayer and we were healed completely. Today when I spoke to my mum over the phone she asked me to write this as a thanks giving to St Martin de Porres. Thank you Lord for giving us St Martin de Porres.

My grandmother, bless her loving soul, had great devotion to St. Martin de Porres and I have always known about him but not his great devotions. When my daughter Michele Ann was in hospital at a young age, I was not allowed to visit her because of risk of infection. I would visit from outside her room, looking through a window. One day she told me of a "doctor" who had come to her room; he was wearing dark clothing and spoke to her, telling her not to be afraid and to keep on loving God and her parents. Within 24 hours she was relieved of her illness and was allowed to come home. I was convinced then, and am still sure, that it was St. Martin de Porres who visited her. Thank you, Lord, for sending St. Martin to give her solace.
