St. John the Apostle Comments

St. John, Apostle and Evangelist (Feast day - December 27th) St. John, the son of Zebedee, and the brother of St. James the Great, was called to be an Apostle by our Lord in the first year of His public ministry. He became the "beloved disciple" and the only one of the Twelve who did not forsake the Savior in the hour of His Passion. He stood faithfully at the cross when the Savior made him the guardian of His Mother. His later life was ... Continue Reading

The Italian Mystic being currently beatified, Maria Valtorta has wonderful writings on the Gospel, I read them everyday and I will read them all the days of my life because they bring me very close to Jesus and Mary. She has written many books but The Poem of Man God is the most beautiful book ever. Wonderful! As she is a mystic there are wonderful descriptions of Jesus life and Marys presence.

I thought the article presented everything as fact, when in reality we don't know all the facts. So why not admit this. We would gain more credibility with non believers if we were not so sure of ourselve. Lord I belibe help my unbelief.

Being the only one of Twelve not to forsake the Savior, gives me strength to stand with someone I think is right.

I love and use this site quite a bit. St. John seems to be pretty popular. However as holy as he is and as much as he is loved he SHOULD NOT be your favorite saint. He can be one of your favorite saints, but your favorite saint in my humble opinion shoud be "YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL!" Anyone have any thought on this?
Also dear Ted VERY GOOD QUESTION.

this is a great site. thank you to whoever created it. to those who were asking... the Bible never says when John was born. We don't know. It never says the specific date he died either. we just know it was around 100 AD and that's as close as we're getting to knowing. :)
    i ♥ John. he's the best!

Why is he called "the beloved"? Were they not all loved equally? Surely Jesus did not have favourites?
