Supreme Court Decisions on Marriage: Tragic Day for Marriage and our Nation, State U.S. Bishops Comments

Our culture has taken for granted for far too long what human nature, experience, common sense, and God's wise design all confirm: the difference between a man and a woman matters, and the difference between a mom and a dad matters. While the culture has failed in many ways to be marriage-strengthening, this is no reason to give up. Now is the time to strengthen marriage, not redefine it. (Cardinal Dolan) Continue Reading

This is truly a sad day for our country. I would hope that our Christian leaders will have the courage to teach their flocks the truth of God's word and stand against those who seek to validate transgressions against God's Word. Why are we as Christians so passive in the face of such evil. If we really believe what the church teaches regarding marriage and willing to stand for the truth, there wouldn't be a need for DOMA and marriage would only mean between and man and a woman.

Now our children will be taught lies regarding marriage and we as parents and grandparents will be hard-pressed to correct them. Because once they see that same-sex couple can "marry" and these "marriages" validated by the government, teachers, clergy, etc... Who will our children believe?

It's time Cardinal Dolan and all the other cardinals and bishops to take strong action.
Our grand leaders like Nancy P. and Joe Biden need reminded that they are Catholics and their positions on abortion and marriage are against our faith. We the flock do not want these people in our church. Either strong action is taken or people will be leaving the church.

Marriage is an political generated agenda issue not a matter of justice. The courts will continue to pervert the meaning of marriage because people have married with no intention to make it a lifetime monogamous marriage commitment. Our nation worships the right to have sex over the commitment that sex is a procreative element to a loving marriage that creates children that are truly wanted as opposed to them being unwanted burdens or the accident of not having safe enough sex. Sex is the god of a perverse nation that insures the right of lust over the need to be truly loved and cared for. In a strong marriage a man, woman and child experience an unconditional love out side of that experience it is at best a matter of luck. Sexual attraction and mutual love between a married man and woman is the strongest adhesive element of an entire society and it is sacred. It is the nucleus of the cell of any society. If marriage is not stable neither is a society full of un stable marriages.
