The Godless Circle of Liberal Sexual Libertinism Comments

The "godless" who focus entirely on temporal goods, the medieval Cistercian monk Geoffrey of Auxerre states, "walk in a circle," and they do this because they reject the "natural desire for the highest good," namely God, and instead turn their lives from that one goal to "seeking to obtain first the lowest and least" of all goods, including, surely, sexual pleasure wherever and however it may be found.  Continue Reading

I am not a theologian , but I practise my faith as best I can . I am limited by health issues and I like to debate with others on all topics . having read all that has been commented on, I am reminded of christs teachings whereby he instructs us to come on to him as children. we strain endlessly to interpret and understand his desires and at times we form judgements on others based on these interpretations. It is almost like me appearing in court and telling the judge, hey! there's no need for you to judge me. I followed the law so im innocent . bye , bye . Now, we all know that if that happened I would be arrested and charged with contempt of court. surely, this is how we view god, as the supreme judge.
However, I would challenge that concept. He is not an overseer of heavenly law, but a creator of it. So, he could change his mind on any law ,at anytime ,should he so desire it. he answers to no one .
So, perhaps we should be as innocent as children and stop trying to second guess his will. he gave us 10 commandments, what more do we need. Surely, it is up to us individually to serve him as best we can. we are all his sheep, and he is our shepherd .
    thank you

The lowest common denominator for church compromise, will be when secular society is satisfied with changes in all church teaching and doctrine,so it agrees with all that secular society thinks is politically correct, relative to it's very own teachings and laws.

THE ISSUE OF TEMPORALITY To be successful Christians we must slay the spirit of the age. In previous centuries, opportunities for unlimited material wealth and pleasure were quite limited - in contrast to our own day of pandemic unrestrained consumerism and unending advertising debauchery - so more people turned from their temporal goods limitations to Higher values and perspectives of Eternal life! Wish it were so today. Our Lady gives timely warnings of the outcome of temporal fixations at www.LadyofFatima.Wordpress.com Don't ignore them!

    Vance,

Your remarks about the NBA player who recently admitted he is a homosexual are along the lines of what I wrote at another website regarding an irony that caused me to chuckle when I was reading an article about Rock Hudson. It seems that Rock Hudson's manager went through great pains to keep his sexual orientation from becoming widely known. If I were the manager of an up and coming celebrity today, I would probably be advising him/her that being a homosexual would probably be a good career move. It would appear that sin is the new morality.

Anyone who thinks we should set our faith aside in America in order to avoid stepping over the line in this current political battle for the soul of our country is courting disaster.
One thing is abundantly clear to any Catholic who understands the faith as shepherded by our Holy Father in Rome and that is the current regime in Washington D.C. under Barack Obama is by far the most anti-Catholic administration in the history of our country. The really sad thing is that our bishops had too long avoided the fight for fear of being accused of mixing politics and religion, and in the case of Obama the dreadful racist label from the media, allowing those of weak faith within their flocks who entered the political arena selling their souls to party platforms in opposition to our faith and values to establish a pattern of Christian capitulation.
We and our societal standards based on the founders reliance on Divine guidance are no longer recognized as a legitimate challenge to the separation phrase used to deny them. Our elected officials who were put into office to protect our freedoms have chosen to be a ruling class unto themselves. Those like Pelosi, Biden, Kerry, Dodd, Sebelius and many others show no remorse for pandering to the enemies of Holy Mother Church and by default are parts of the problem. The situation has become grave and we, with guidance from bishops who now realize just how serious the administration is in its effort to remove all obstacles to a full blown secularist society, have to get involved in the fight for the soul of America.
It is time to stop pretending we are powerless to defend ourselves from those who have abandoned piety in favor of personal power and prestige. If we the laity, the Church Militant, are to be the martyrs for the faith standing together against the forces of evil which are consuming our nation as it progresses on the administrations path into oblivion then so it must be. It has and always must be for true followers of Christ a requirement to assist the Spirit of Pentecost within us in bringing forth upon our world the will of God to have life more abundant using the power of His Truth to make and keep men free. It is our duty, along with the message of hope and change within the church of Christ, to open the hearts of men to depend on the creators love to guide us to the place he is preparing for us not to succumb to the lure of an ever expanding totalitarian Marxist styled government promising to provide our every need in order to make us slaves to a godless political system.

Satan's seat keeps shifting as it seems, to know his original seat is where Paganism is predominant in the end time which is to say where the serpent at eden first settled after the temptation to the Spiritual babylon, off the Babylon divided into three parts in Prophecy, the other two being Political & Commercial Babylons. For both the doctrines that of Balaam & that of Nicolaitans which Jesus hates makes them stumbling blocks to God, as things sacrificed unto idols..In view of this, the origin of both the doctrines can said to have arisen out of the ancient pagan temple prostitutions & human sacrifices which God detested in the O.T, come in to today's libertinism into sexual immoralities to the Gay agendas in the lust & human/child sacrifices come as today's abortions respectively.

"Yay tho I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me. " Our bishops are men also. When they are silent, we must turn to Christ! I do agree that there has been a softening in Christian Teaching which has led many to misunderstand Love. Love forgives, that's true, but Love doesn't ignore the child who places him /herself in danger. Love disciplines, guides and forgives. The father rejoices at the return of the prodigal sons, but the son first had a repentant heart which turned him around and the son, himself made the journey home. The Father rejoices when His Children return, but the child first must turn around and start walking. Too many overlook that and remain lost. Jesus never said "Anything goes! "

The "summum bonum" calls on all of this to participate, because at the end we are all affected by the sum of society's actions. That said, we must be courageous, knowing that we might feel completely abandoned if we boldly stand up for God's Kingdom, but that will only be a temporal illusion that the Enemy will use to try to get us to stop. We can look at a number of examples throughout history, including Arianism, where the few that stood up for the truth, suffered greatly, but in the end their efforts triumphed, whether in their lifetimes or later generations. Let's keep our focus on God's Word and the ancient teachings of the Church, which have experienced similar periods of godlessness when saints rose up to answer God's call. In the end, God always has the victory, whether for eternity or on earth, so let us answer the call, knowing that Jesus in invincible, and He will be with us so that His Truth shall reign.

Let us not single out homosexuals, when any sexual conduct out side of true marriage is sinful. Our society is sliding down into despair and the message of truth needs to be clear. We should pray for our nation to be led back to faith.

Mr Greenwell, thank you. This was a wonderful article. You mentioned toward the end the quote about Christ saying "with the sword of my mouth" and that you were unsure what that means. I offer for your consideration, Ephesians 6:17 "And take unto you the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit (which is the word of God)." In combating the evils of the day, the soldiers of the Church Militant must trust the exhortation of St Paul to put on the armor of God. We must be fearless and use the word of God as our weapon, our sword, against the heresies and evils of this and any age, just as you have sir. God Bless you and keep up the good writing!
