Even among Catholics attending Mass weekly, Obama is winning in recent polling. Our shepherds have not guided us in regards to this issue. Obama is being invited to Notre Dame again to speak and he's coming to dinner with Cardinal Dolan. Seems to many Catholics that Obama is an okay choice. As for Romney / Ryan...their records are not stellar either. Ryan just caved on Don't Ask Don't Tell...stating that it should not be reinstated. Not much to choose from really. I'll hold my nose and vote for the Mormon and quasi-Catholic. To vote for Obama would be tantamount to handing Obama the keys to driving us into the pit of hell and the culture of eternal death.
No Catholics are supporting Obama! That's the truth. But, a number of people who do not subscribe to the teachings of the Church and do not regularly attend Mass are calling themselves Catholic and are spreading lies about Obama's record and the Church. Barack Obama disqualified himself from the support of practicing Catholics when he supported "born alive" legislation in the Illinois legislature which would allow the killing of babies born alive after an attempted abortion. Obama showed his lack of respect for human life then, and there is no evidence that he has changed his position since, only that he has lied about his respect for human life. People who call themselves "Catholic" can make up excuses for supporting Obama, but they can't change the fact that he is in opposition to a basic teaching of the Church. True Catholics will not vote for Obama, and that's the truth!
Keep giving us the truth.
Evidently, Keith and Deal think they know what it takes to be a Catholic. Actually, I don't think either political party is worthy of the Catholic vote. Republicans only give lip service to the Pro- life movement----how can one be pro-life and pro-war and pro-death penalty? The sky is not falling. Marraige in the Catholic church has not changed. The pro-life teachings of the Catholic church has not changed. One should not equate the teachings of the Catholic church with what goes on in Washington. Only one is important.
