We Applaud the Republican Platform: No 'Abortion Rights', Only a Right to Life Comments

The language of the Republican Platform is refreshingly clear: "Faithful to the 'self-evident' truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment's protections apply to unborn children." Continue Reading

What America is, until the Clinton's came in, is what Abraham Lincoln was, the head of the Republicans Today America desperately needs such a visionary, much contrary to Obama & the democrats of the day who by their ways "plugs" the nation, even unto stealing Lincoln's name.

A recent Bloomberg article "Americans having fewer babies..." quoted a married woman's decision not to have a child, "Children are really expensive...Retirement is not an option for a lot of folks." She and her husband would rather pay down their mortgage and save for retirement than have a child. Several decades ago, children were expected to take care of their elderly parents in their retirement years ("Honor thy father and thy mother."). Multi-generational households were common. Parents made sure that their children get good education and taught them Christian values. Unless America return to its traditional Christian values, we will continue to elect immoral people to positions of authority and leadership. It's time to rediscover our true Christian vocation as parents (and grandparents) by raising truly Christian children then we will have more options to elect faithful Christians leaders to office.

    Deacon Fournier,
Where is your simultaneous call for greatly expanded social services to take care of the expanded numbers of poor people, once abortion is outlawed? Where is your simultaneous call for expanded investigation and enforcement of child support from the fathers of the children that will be born?

I am pro-life, and yet if I vote for Romney-Ryan, I'm voting for reduced funding for social services, education, etc. I'm also voting to starve these parts of our society while expanding funding for the Pentagon - funding, which, since George Bush took office, has TRIPLED to over $1 trillion per year.

I'm also voting, along with Romney-Ryan, for people who believe that creationism should be taught in our public schools, a crackpot theory that was never taken seriously when I was receiving my Catholic education as a youth.

Paul Ryan is probably a very good man, as is Barack Obama and Joe Biden. On the other hand, Mitt Romney is no friend of Catholics. He threw us under the bus in Massachusetts, and he'll do it again.

    Think before you vote.
