   Religious liberty is at risk, I believe that.
   I looked to Cardinal Dolan to fight for religious liberty.
   
   Hey - he may have to ask his people to risk fines or jail for this!
   
   But we feel he is afraid of looking bad by not inviting the President to the Al Smith Dinner.
   
   Cardinal you are not the person we thought would be fighting for our faith. We are so disappointed. We are still looking for that person. May we suggest the Archbishop of Philadelphia? We need someone tough and not political.

   No, Vance. I'm saying stop putti ng party fiirst, put God first, and don't vote for EITHER of these clowns and pretend it's "the Christian thing to do." Neither of them is, and you know it as well as I do. Sorry, Vance, but you're the one being dishonest here. NOT liking Romney doesn't equate to supporting Obama... because I REFUSE to accept that either party really represents our faith or values. As to your judgement of me, your need to do so and the general tone of your post shows pretty clearly what you put YOUR faith in, and exactly how far you own faith really reaches in your life. . I hope, someday, it'll be Jesus instead of American politicians you put your faith and trust in... Because man- even leaders- will fail you every time. Peace, man.    This will probably not be posted but I have to get it off my chest. Let's quit mincing words. "Cafeteria Catholics and non-practicing Catholics" are APOSTATES. Period!! Let's call it like it is. If you don't know what apostate means, look it up. These people are delusional when they call themselves good Catholics and continue to vote for people that are totally in oppostion to the teachings of the Faith. They have excommunicated themselves from the Church, and worse yet, if they are continuing to receive the Eucharist, they are only piling one sacrilege after another onto their souls, and at Judgement Day, Jesus will only tell them "I NEVER KNEW YOU." I know that sounds mean and hurtful. The TRUTH sometimes DOES sound mean and hurtful. Look at it as "tough love." I would be remiss if I didn't tell it like it is in an effort to get our fallen away brothers and sisters to think about what they are doing. I have a soul to save too. Mine!! This is a WAKE-UP call to EVERYONE. We have a "Dictator" in the WH, who has declared war on the Catholic Church, forcing us to do things that are against Jesus' teachings. DOES THAT NOT MEAN ANYTHING TO YOU? We will never be able to replace this DICTATOR with anyone else if he gets a 2nd term. Our Holy Father has called this administration "DEMONIC." Are we going to listen to him or not? Remember, OUR HOLY FATHER SPEAKS FOR JESUS!. God bless.

I'm sorry but Rob already beat you to the punch. He, like you, have been running this tired old Liberal deceit for awhile. You are just another Liberal hack catching spears and arrows for your Party of Death. Yes, yes I know you didn't say vote for Obama and his Party of Death (( BUT )) after reading your drivel, one can come to only ONE CONCLUSION what you mean, VOTE FOR OBAMA and my Party of Death.

   Wow, Vance. That's an amazing ammount of incorrect information all at one time. Re-read my posts, and read for comprehension! Are you really not getting it, or are you deliberately misconstruing what I said? My distaste for Romney and homesty about HIM does NOT mean I'm a fan of Obama. Can we be HONEST, or do we have to be so full of loathing for Obama that we must pretend Romney's our boy? Come on, Vance. Obama's pro-choice. Guess what? SO IS ROMNEY, and he has been throughout his entire political career, despite what he wants us to believe now. Obamacare is awful... and it's based on Romneycare. Obama's VP is a buffoon with no real plans... Romney's VP is a Randian foolwith a worldview that ought to be ANATHEMA to Catholics. (Ayn Rand? Seriously? We're supposed to support this guy?? )
   What we're talking about is a choice between two guys who have nothing to offer Catholics that we should feeel good about, Vance. Perhaps you're confussing some sort of misguided party loyalty with real faith. Whatever. The bottom line is that Mitt Romney is NO better for the country than Obama is, if you put partisanship aside and look at him with any kind of honesty, and we have very, very little to be happy about in this election.
   I can no more get behind Romney than I can Obama. There is NO "lesser of two evils" to pick this time. No matter how bad people want to pretend.

   gfgrosek, definition of a cafeteria Catholic is someone who calls themselves Catholic and then picks and choose what teachings of the Catholic Church they will follow. For example people who are baptized Catholic but use contraception and make the decision for themselves that it is OK to use it even though it is against church teaching. Catholic means universal, one body of people believing in the same teachings, in communion. That is why when receiving Communion, Jesus himself present, means before God you are reaffirming you believe and are trying your best to live all the teachings of the church established by Christ to the best of your ability and when you fall from Grace, you repent, go to confession, then you are back in communion with Christ’s Church able to receive Grace again. Under any other circumstances you should not receive Communion. You are right, there are no liberal Catholics or conservative Catholics, only Catholics who believe in and practice all the teachings of the Church, ones that pick and choose or ones that don't practice the Faith at all, so in other words, practicing Catholics, cafeteria Catholics and non-practicing Catholics. Either you are trying to practice and trying to understand TRUTH or you are not.
   
   I agree with Vance.
   
   The real issue for Catholics in this election and which sadly is not talked about much here, is whether or not Catholics will vote for someone who says he is Pro-Life, even if he has changed his mind, his VP pick is a Pro-Life Catholic or someone who has adamantly said he believes in a woman’s right to end the life of her child even up to the point the child is partially born, head out, then a sharp object like a scissors is blunt forced into the back of the neck into the head and then the child’s brains are suctioned out; this procedure happens more than you think. Biden maybe a baptized Catholic but in reality he has ex-communicated himself from the Church because he has stated he is pro-abortion and pro-same sex marriage.
   
   Who will you vote for? Maybe we should ask the advice of the 54 million souls in Heaven who were created by God in HIS image and likeness and who’s right to life was taken away; our own holocaust.
   
   BTW how did Hitler come to power? By lying, portraying the wealthy Jewish population as less than human and controlling the youth and the media. I’m not saying Obama can control the media but we all know most of mainstream media portrays him in a positive light rarely reporting his failures or the truth about him while attacking anyone who opposes him. How did this unqualified man become president? By fooling a lot of people. The truth of this man was out before the 2008 election but people refused to look at it as they are now, they were so blinded then and still are by his rock star image. Unbelievable is that half the US population will vote again for this man not because of his achievements, because there are none, but because they like the guy. Really?
   
   What stands in the way of a socialist society? Catholicism. This is why STRONG and CONSISTANT leadership is needed in the US Catholic Church. Archbishop Chaput where are you?

   Romney will do nothing about the banks. I do fear that he would deregulate them further. While Obama did not create the economic climate we've been trying to dig out of since he took office, things surely haven't turned around while he's been if office.
   
   The HHS mandate is inexcusable. There is no defense possible of that. From a political standpoint, I just don't get it. Between that and marriage, it will be interesting to see what Catholics do this time around.

The reason we Catholics are not voting for your guy and your Party of Death is that your guy spit in Cardinal Dolan's and the churches face with his HHS Mandate and his refusal to obey the "Protect Marriage Act" law. Obama spit in America's face with his 6 TRILLION dollar debt, 89 MILLION people out of the workforce, the middle class has shrinked down to 1930's depression levels, poverty is down to 1950's levels, Food Stamp and Welfare are at record highs, we are hated around the world. Karl, do you suppose that would be reason enough not to vote for your guy and the Party of Death?

   So, who is so holy that they can judge who is a true Catholic and who is a cafeteria Catholic-------who is a liberal Catholic and who is a conservative Catholic? I thought Catholics were instructed by Jesus to love their neighbors, forgive their enemies, and spread the Good News of God's Kingdom. What exactly does God think of man made governments full of corruption and only concern for money?
