Catholics for Romney Leadership Team Formed: Six Former Vatican Ambassadors Lead the Effort Comments

We are all called to advance the moral teachings of Christianity in the life of our country. Where the stakes are highest - in the defense of life, liberty, and human dignity - we have a duty to act that is greater and more urgent than allegiance to any political party. In the election of 2012, this conviction has united all of us - each a former ambassador of the United States to the Holy See - in support of Governor Mitt Romney's candidacy for ... Ben & Don Satterfield: I will refer you to Judy's comment. She hit the nail on the head for the both of us. However, I did take offense with "Where is our country's compassion?" If it weren't for the USA, countries around this world would be in dire distress. America is the most generous country on the face of this planet. "If we lose freedom here, where will the rest of the world go." Ronald Reagan. Obama is hard at work turning America into a 3rd world country with his Marxist/Socialistic plan of "wealth redistribution." By the way, that wealth redistribution is surely not going to the people of America. It's going all over the world to bring the other countries up and America down to achieve their "social justice." Which, by the way, is totally different from the "social justice" the Church teaches. When are people going to realize that the "1%" are the people that keep the "99%' in jobs. The less their taxes, the more people they can employ and provide with benefits. The Catechism of the Catholic Church has a section on "envy", a cardinal sin. That's right up there with the 7th commandment "Thou Shalt Not Steal." Maybe we should stop being so "ENVIOUS" of the wealthy and stop trying to "STEAL" their money. If we want wealth, we should go out and pursue it. (legally, of course) That's what's so great about this country. We have the "OPPORTUNITY" to be and do anything we want. The people of America (including the rich) are good, generous and compassionate. At least most of them are. I'm probably the oldest person on this board and I can remember when this country was thriving and prosperous, and if we continue to vote for corrupt politicians and send them to Washington, America, as we know it, a great Republic, will be gone. The government cannot GIVE us rights, only God can GIVE us rights. The government cannot create jobs, only entrepreneurs, corporations and small business can create jobs. Marxists/Socialists have only one goal in mind. To have the people totally dependent on it for everything. Our Holy Father, Benedict said "A government that wants to be everything to all people, is NOT divine, but DEMONIC. One day, when all the takers of this country wake up and realize that their country has been stolen right out from under their noses, they will be wishing that the Tea Party and the Party of No was back in Washington. "Once we lose freedom here, we will never taste it again. The government is NOT the solution, it is the PROBLEM." Ronald Reagan. We need to stand up and start relying on ourselves. We should NOT be relying on the government nor should we want to. In my day, we took care of ourselves. We had family and friends and the Church to help us out if we needed it. Relying on the government killed our spirit. It was embarrassing. The poor that relied on the government only got poorer. Abortion wasn't a household word. It was said in whispers and it was a huge scandal if we knew of someone that got one. The morals and integrity of this nation are in the toilet and this administration is axiously waiting to flush it. Are we going to let them? God bless.

Rob: Come on my friend. Get your head out of the sand. People that have to depend on the government/"Dictator" for everything is a slave. You know that as well as I. God bless.

JoAnn, in case I missed something, Obama did not legalize abortion. And I have yet to hear any politician say their first order of business is going to be to rid the country of abortion. I don't hear any politician saying that ridding the country of abortion is their primary platform. I think there are state folks working circles around those in our federal government. For the feds it's an issue we hear about at election time or when they need to do some politicing, but it's never a real do or die issue. Campaign prop and nothing more. JoAnn, could you clarify how we are going to be in slavery if Obama is re-elected?

Don Satterfield: Beautiful re-write! We all flub up. I am glad to know your true viewpoints. Actually, it is the same as mine and Jo Ann's. Naturally, we want health care for all. And that means acceptance of pre-existing illnesses as well. But, Obamacare, includes the Package of:
Abortion=Murder, Sterilization to young girls up to 24 years of age, (is he insane?), etc. One must ask themselves, "What is going on?...And what is he thinking"?
It seemed to many of us at the time, when Obama had control of the House and Senate, and it was found, that hardly ANY OF THEM had even read the over 1000 page health document, that that indeed was Very Strange. It was and is, Utter Absurdity! Never. in US HISTORY HAD THIS HAPPENED BEFORE. A president who does not communicate with his House and Senate? Merely writes the document and says to the higher ups, "Get it passed". Smells fishy to me. And now you know...Abortion Package +. And, HHS Mandate. Yes. Jo Ann and I are for a re-written health care for all, that does not include Abortion + and HHS Mandate. Our country in its poor and jobless, homeless, state can Not stand 4 more years of Obama!! Who knows what is lying for us behind the curtain?
I for one, Do not want to find out! Romney will re-write a health care that will not include the murdering of Innocents. Romney also needs a Rep. House and Senate to get things done. And no, Romney is not my first choice. But he is thee only choice this Nov.
By the way, both Jo Ann and I are Independents. A vote for anyone but Romney, would through votes to Obama, who DOES NOT DESERVE THEM. Glad you are alive and kicking! Thanks Mom! Blessings....

I must apologize for not being specific. I fully stand with our Church on abortion and birth control.

I hope we can, as a society, find a way to get healthcare for those who do not have it. I hope our Church will win in not having to provide the things that are, most clearly, against our beliefs.

My own mother's life was seriously threatened with her pregnancy and subsequent delivery of me. She refused to even think of an abortion. I love you, Mom!

    JoAnn et al,

Maybe if the Right actually was Pro-Life, just for once, then the "abortion" argument would hold legitimacy. But the policies of the Republican Right are overly destructive of God's Creation, the natural ecosystems upon which human life desperately relies. Why has the Right so actively disregarded and degraded the classical conservative doctrine of the "conservation ethic?"

The modern conservative use of Big Government to ban abortion should, in fact, also be a reason to use government to provide health care for all citizens. Why should children and other human beings with preexisting conditions be denied health coverage? Where is the compassion for their right to life? Why should countless people die of potentially curable diseases since they simply lack health coverage? There are death panels in this nation, but it's not the government. It is, in fact, private corporations determining who receives health care and who doesn't.

I want to clarify I have been a member of both parties at different points of my civi life, but I am now registered independent. I firmly believe both parties terribly violate Catholic conscience and morals, albeit on differing grounds. I challenge all of you to do the same, for sake of both faith and consistency. You can't honestly accuse one side of being evil while your own political party promotes a different form of it.

God bless and may all diologue occur with kindness and calm demeanor.

Don Satterfield: Then the blood of millions of babies are on you hands and a free country will be in slavery if Obama gets back in. How are you going to explain that to Jesus when you stand before Him on your judgement day? May He have mercy on your soul. God bless.

First, I apologize and correct my mistake of writing in the Past Tense! on my last post. Dear Friends, your answers to questions posted here, your time in responding to posts, ARE Needed for communion here; refer to my last post. Case in point: WE still have Dem. Catholics who think Obama is king, because of Obamacare....it couldn't be called USH = USHealthcare could it? No. Because this is from Ego Obama who fits in with most of Ego Hollywood. May I ask someone to reply to a particular said Catholic who is still in the dark? Name: Don Satterfield. We love you Don.
(I am short on time). I can not, for the life of me, understand? how anyone can say, Obama is helping the poor so I will vote him. While on the other hand, Obama destroys this country and murders. How can one keep their conscience? unless he is making an excuse for himself. or, one does not think Abortion equates =Murder. He writes, therefore he can reason. "Sacred Heart Of Jesus, Have Mercy On Us". Blessings...
