Belmont Abbey HHS Mandate Case Dismissed. Resistance and Catholic Action! Comments

Twenty three lawsuits have been filed alleging a violation of the First Amendment. The day before this DC opinion was released, a federal Judge in Nebraska dismissed a case filed by the Attorney General on a similar ground. Both judges held that the "safe harbor" provisions delayed enforcement until August of 2013 and thus removed any immediate threat. It is kind of like saying that the bully in the schoolyard with the clenched fist is not ... Continue Reading

    Rob,
You and I along with all the faithful are duly concerned with the state of affairs and conditions which exist in our nation today. Much of the fabric of our faith and freedom have and continue to be ravaged by the murky or unseen forces of Evil as it has wormed its way in to the minds and hearts of the "sleeping giant" that was America. Its the same old same old story of God's people coming out of bondage or hard times through the light of truthful obedience to His will only to eventually forget our deliverer as we revert to our stubborn resistance to His Will and ways in favor of feasting on His bounty and the pleasrues of the flesh. But thank God there has been and always will be that remnant of His people (like you and us) who will for the sake of all stand up and speak out as witnesses of the Truth.
We in fact are the soldiers and Truth is the giant that never sleeps but is often ignored as human history has revealed over and over. This battle is indeed raging the enemy is at our gates we have been awakened and Truth will not be defeated as long as there are those willing to defend it regardless of the delay in taking up its banner and cross in the name of Christ.
As far as catechesis is concerned a little goes a long way but only if it is nurtured by prayer and personal reflection bound by the wise use of experience.
    Peace to you

God works in mysterious ways that no man can fathom. Even the early Christians during the period of Roman persecution could never have imagined the fruits of their blood several centuries later. We just have to continue to trust that God knows what He is doing (and what He has allowed to happen). Catholics must continue to do what is right according to our Church teachings, frequenting the sacraments, praying "unceasingly", and striving to be holy. Let's vote with our conscience (Nov 6, 2012). Obama's presidency may be the "wake up call" for Americans to once again walk the path of righteousness and turn to God for help saying with true faith "In God we trust".

Why don't they just change the law slightly so an organization can give an employee an insurance voucher & allow the individual to decide which plan he or she wishes to use?

All these lawsuits are fine, but I sure wish the Church was a little more serious about the teachings in this regard. There is still a huge disconnect between joe parishoner and the lawsuits. The vast majority are still scratching their heads wondering what all the excitement is about. The failure of catechesis in this area is immense.

For my own part I sort of feel like this is WWII. The battle is raging, getting worse by the day, but it takes a direct hit to get us to engage. The only problem was that the enemy has been busy taking the soldiers out. The soldiers have become so comfortable with contraception that they fail to understand what is at stake here. And who can blame them? Contraceptives are everywhere. The time for serious battle was long ago. It was long ago on so many issues. I guess time will tell if they woke a sleeping giant or if the giant will continue to snooze.

We shall see what Election Day 2012 has in store for America. Will we roar like lions or bleat like sheep? I am hoping and praying for a loud roar this November. Hopefully, the Naples, Florida based priest with the spine of steel was wrong about America. If not then we are headed for some serious persecution.

Liberal bishops + lack of preaching church doctrine + "social justice" clergy + democratic party + abortion + weakness of man = Well, the mess we find ourselves in today.

Please pray for the Catholic Church and United States of America.

The freedom of religion lawsuits are headed to the Supreme Court. The sooner they get there the better. We need to know if our Constitution still means what it says or if it will take another revolution to get our rights back!

Too bad Fox News could not show us some pictures to go along with this article today. It would indicate just how far the culture of death can take us once a nation leaves God's law and Church doctrine behind to follow the benevolent graces afforded by government run health care.
