The Black Blessing and the Moral Dissipation of the Episcopal Church Comments

On July 9, 2012, at the Episcopal Church's General Convention in Indianapolis, the House of Bishops voted 111-41 to authorize a trial rite for same sex unions for use for the next three years.  The next day, by a 171-50 vote, the House of Deputies approved the measure.  This means that the rite, entitled "Witnessing and Blessing of a Lifelong Covenant," presents an alternative liturgical rite for same-sex couples in addition to the ... Well, Popes have said that married persons are baptized into each other on their wedding day and their consummation is their physical holy communion. So the analogy between the Mass and marriage works because both have to do with covenant and the mutual self giving of persons. Christ is the bridegroom and his church the life giving bride, something the homosexual relationship cannot represent. Same-sex unions are a profanation of a sacrament- very serious matters- like desecrating the Eucharist. However, while we can strongly denounce and dissent from the Episcopal community's actions, we should still charitably make them aware of the need for full communion with the Church Christ founded. Benedict has tried to make Anglicans feel welcome with the Ordinariate. We should use this as a time to cast the net out to those wanting out of the Episcopal community, and not simply resort harsh criticism only. The same is true with homosexual persons, even the ones who are maliciously bent on labeling the Church as a bigot. We should try hard to display mercy and truth mutually and not negate one or the other. Otherwise we become clanging cymbals and noisy gongs as St. Paul said.

@Nduta: A "Black Mass" is a parody of the truth Mass. They say that the devil is the ape of God, i.e., that he mimics him, just like same-sex marriage is an ape of authentic marriage between a man and a woman. I carry this notion of a parody of the real in the adjective "black" to the name of this new rite, "Witnessing and Blessing of a Lifelong Covenant." Hence "black witness" and "black blessing." The rite is a parody of the real rite of marriage; it apes it.

As The Episcopal church agreed on same-sex marriage there is no need for abuse instead advise them and tell them the word of God that it is not proper.
And there is no need for Coming back because it is damaging

I agree that all persons, regardless of their sexual inclination, should be equally bound by the law of chastity.

But, tell me, what is a Black Mass? What is a Black Witness? What is a Black Blessing? Why "Black"?

Accept the reality that not all humans are predestined to Heaven. Some prefer the carnal regions of Hell on earth and others the eternal kingdom of THEIR Father.

ENOUGH! of treading lightly around the "feelings" of lukewarm culture goats, depraved monsters, queers, and their enablers! These haughty enslaved self worshiping creatures will never listen... will never convert their wicked hearts... and are forever lost to Hell. Forget them, as they have willfully chosen to spend eternity chained to their guardian demon in the lower dungeons of eternal Hell...

It's transparently evident to the common layperson that the Episcopal Church has become a temple of wickedness that worships the pillars of Aven... the phallus.

Ah, yes. First we are exposed to comments by people who think anal sex is normal, and then we hear from a Catholic who has already condemned all non-Romans to hell. Then there were comments about child abuse. The truth is: the Episcopal Church had a real chance to come into communion again with Rome some years ago and preferred women "priests" to unity. The Episcopal Church is not 2 million but now less than 1 million. The church of George Washington and the church that formed Elizabeth Seton is no more. Most Christians in the Episcopal Church left the church and established independent and t rational Anglican jurisdictions - and now a lot of those folks are taking advantage of an offer by the Pope to join Rome and keep Anglican paternity (the Christian type only), of course.

Bud: You and me both. The Episcopalian Church is catching on to the New Age Religion fast. This really came as no shock to me. They have gone and are going so far down the road, that in order for Episcopalians to keep whole 0r holy, having peace of mind, I think the time has come for them to make a Choice, as the Good Book says. Their religion is not the same. Secularism has entered in, and as you say, there are two choices. I really think only one. And that is your #1. Again I refer to Star wars, Old Ban, and staying with the One True Force. We have that. Blessings....

While it is true that anyone could have sex just for the sake of pleasure, the fact is that only a MAN and a WOMAN can create life, while same sex relationships do nothing. That is not a religious view, that is just a biological fact. It is against the very nature of humans and all living things. Though same same sex marriages should not be supported (especially from anyone proclaiming to be Christian), homosexuals ARE still God's children and deserve respect and fair treatment (especially from anyone proclaiming to be Christian). This does not mean allowing them to marry, but to not discriminate against those who sometimes can't help but be homosexuals.

Many have tried to spin this conflict into being akin to that of the Civil Rights Movements of the 60's (specifically to that of race and gender discrimination), when really this fight is on an ENTIRELY different level. The conflicts of racism & sexism were solely based on physical features (the color of skin and type of the body), while this is a conflict based on the choices and acts people are making. No one will be "looking back and laughing " at any point in the future.

It is funny how the people that say the Catholic Church is stuck in the past and discriminating against homosexuals, are also the same people who attack everyone who is Catholic because of what some priests have done. From where I'm sitting, both sides are being major posers right now. People supporting same sex marriage think they are Martin Luther King Jr. and are taking a stand against oppression, when really they're just whiny children rebelling against responsibility and self control. Priests and many other religious people think they are heroes of the faith when they take to the pulpit and preach, when really they are just playing it safe and only doing half the work they're suppose to do. St. Patrick went BACK to the island which he was a prisoner of in order to spread the Good Word. St. Joan of Arc not only went to war but against the status quo for the Glory of God.

We have a responsibility not only to ourselves, but to those around us as well. Even when people go one or all of our beliefs, Catholics and all Christians as well, have a duty to not judge others, but to help others, in the name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. JMJ

The Episcopal Church needs to break into two segments:
1 Come back to the Roman Catholic Church.
2 Join the Universalist Church and quit making pretenses with it's revised theology on everything that's politically corret. I laugh every time I watch how carefully the feminization of that group has destroyed it.

If "gay marriage" is about being honest and open we need a lot more conversation about and research into the actual outcomes of kids raised in same-sex households rather than running blindly into this.

Why are gay marriage activists attempting to rush the rest of us to judgement before all the facts are in? Why not spend more time actually looking into the effects of same-sex parenting on the next generation before radically altering the nature of the institution which countless generations have found to be the optimal environment to raise children? Will gay marriage proponents cease attacking people who believe, in agreement with the best social science we now have available, that kids do best when raised by their married mother and father?

If gay people are “born that way” and this means they have a “right” to marry (which doesn’t follow) why does the Regnerus study find significant differences in sexual orientation based on family of origin?

If orientation is simply genetic (and not also based on environment, etc) why do children, for instance, raised by lesbians display such a higher likelihood of identifying as gay themselves? Shouldn’t the household they were raised in make absolutely no difference, if children are simply “born gay”, like we are constantly told?

The Regnerus study notes that, for the vast majority of kids, being raised by a same-sex parent is an unstable experience which results in poor outcomes. The study is more comprehensive, larger and more illustrative than any previous study of gay parenting outcomes, and its methodology is sound... it should be enough real data to stop gay adoption in its tracks.
