Rome Reiterates Concerns: LCWR Leaders Express Concern Over Call to Reform Comments

The Holy See has acted pastorally, out of Christian love, and in keeping with its proper role to guard the deposit of faith. The National Catholic Reporter's biased and inaccurate reporting concerning this entire matter has contributed to the secular media's feeding frenzy and thereby contributed to placing the leaders of the Catholic Church in a bad light. That is not responsible Catholic journalism.  Continue Reading

    Maureen and Steve,

I wonder if you have been listening to the news and reading the blogs, the articles and the statements that have been written about this issue maligning the way the LCWR has been unfairly criticized unbeknownst to them. Even the statements issued by the LCWR leadership themselves complain of the injustice done to them. They have been presented by the media to be the most self-sacrificing, almost saintly women who have committed no wrong and have to submit or subject themselves to the authority of the Bishops and the Pope. There is a derogatory ring in the way our Catholic Church is described as an organization that caters to the archaic patriarchy. Jesus, The SON of God, started our Church as a Patriarchy. He sent out the apostles to spread "His Word." Women have a role in the church. Let us look to the Blessed Mother and emulate her.
Bishop Blair is simply responding to all the criticisms and the statements issued by the LCWR. There is nothing defensive about his statement. It is good to know when the evaluation started and some examples of issues that are of concern. He is right that not all members of the LCWR need to be corrected. The problem is that the ones who need the correcting are the ones who are making all the noise. Perhaps, when the members of the LCWR get together for their meetings, they should focus on reading the Scriptures especially the Beatitudes, spend time in Adoration of the Eucharist.

If the Leadership Conference of Women Religious continues to be unfaithful to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, they need to be told to leave, and "close the door on their way out."

IT IS TIME THAT THE HOLY ROMAN-CATHOLIC CHURCH STARTS TO PURGE ALL THESE PROGRESSIVES OUT OF THE CHURCH!

THEY ARE THE REASON WHY THE LAITY HAVE VOTED FOR SUCH MASS MURDERERS AS OBAMA!

    CONSIDER YOURSELVES WARNED!!!

I'm so glad the Vatican is correcting these sinful nuns. We Catholics in the pew have been complaining about them for years. Unlike Blessed Teresa of Calcutta's order, these american nuns have become only secularized social workers preaching, teaching and practicing the secular world view. They are not Catholic nuns. They left in spirit a long time ago. Same goes for the National Catholic Reporter. If they cannot repent and truly convert to the Faith they bear in name only, then they need to let their bodies follow their spirit right out of the Church. The fact that the Vatican has had to do this is a sad commentary on SOME Bishops in America.Even though religious orders are not governed by the local Bishop, no Bishop has to allow any religious order to be in his diocese unless he approves of them. He has the authority to order them out or deny them support.

I hope the next Pope gives the Vatican the courage to excommunicate people like this instead of just slapping them on the wrist and continuing to look the other way.

It doesn't matter about public perception. The press is going to make hay out of this no matter what. The Church has to remain faithful to Christ's teaching. This really is a situation that should have been dealt with years ago. But that is neither here nor there. It is being dealt with now with courage.

Does anyone see a common denominator between LCWR and Girl Scouts of America? I think Satan is once again exploiting female emotion to leverage humanity.

I find the Bishop to be a bit defensive and this video he has made has the tone of a 'pre-emptive' strike.Especially when I see the date (June 8) days BEFORE the announced dialogue in Rome.

"When the power of LOVE overcomes the love of power, we will know peace".
I will pray HARD for all involved, but mostly for the Bishops and Cardenals, who seem to need it!
