While the nation discusses and debates the attacks on religious freedom, a high school junior in Florida has put her academic reputation on the line to stand up for her faith. Margeaux Graham was selected this year to participate in The American Legion Auxiliary's prestigious 9-day leadership event, the "Girls State" program. When Margeaux learned she would not be allowed to attend Sunday mass during the event, she decided to decline the honor. Continue Reading

Ok, so why on earth are you not posting my comments? At least shoot me an email and tell me why. I notice the regulars seem to have disappeared.
I applaud you, Margeaux. You have chosen God before self and He will grace you for that. And maybe, just maybe you have planted a seed for those officials to come back to the true faith. Thanks for being a good witness to me.
Do they take attendance at the "relilgious ceremony" If someone doesn't show up at this event do they not get theri credits.? Coud she play hookey and go to mass across the street. Probably too honest to do that.
Thank you Margeaux! Sacrifices are not easy and often during the middle of them we begin to wonder if it is all worth it... but it IS!!! Thank You & may your sacrifice resound across the earth in praise of God. Thanks Margeaux

I am so proud of this young lady. Way to go! You will be rewarded ten-fold for your correct decision.
Go for you, Margeaux! Missing Sunday Mass is not a sacrifice, it is a sin! The Catholic Florida Officer is mistaken in her statements. Please do stick to your convictions. More, and better, opportunities with come of it. God bless you!
Well done Margeaux, as a fellow Catholic I am very proud of your courage, may God's blessings shine on you.
That is absurd they won't allow her to attend mass, especially when the Cathedral is across the street. Someone at the ALA doesn't have their priorities straight. I admire Margeaux dedication and devotion to her faith&principles. She is a great role model for others and has shown greater leadership than the ALA has on this matter. I hope they will reconsider, nobody should have to choose between remaining loyal to their faith or attending a conference. Attending mass is not the same as missing a sporting event as they compared the two. That was a bad comparison on the ALA Officers part as well.
Excellent example!!! God will repay you abundantly
May God bless you abundantly, Margeaux! Your strength through faith will serve you all the days of your life. Thank you for defending our faith! Glory to God!
