Mitt Romney: Mormon Candidate at Baptist Liberty University Moves Catholic Editor Comments

Governor Romney did not attempt to argue the compatibility of his own religious faith and that of most of the graduates. I was relieved. He told the graduates and their guests, "People of different faiths, like yours and mine, sometimes wonder where we can meet in common purpose, when there are so many differences in creed and theology.  Surely the answer is that we can meet in service, in shared moral convictions about our nation ... How can a Catholic vote for Mitt when last week he said he is okay with gays adopting children? If your okay with that, your okay with so called gay marriage. Since raising children requires a couple and your talking about couples, then he if for gay marriage. I will stay home in November. It is one liberal against another. No thanks. No wimp Romney.

I need to clarify one statement I made. I did not mean literally "anyone." I meant any so-called Christian whose religion dismisses the Nicene Creed and raises up its own false concept of "god" in place of the Nicene Creed is an enemy of Christian Truth. I was not referring to religions that do not attempt to call themselves Christian. I was referring to actual heretics whose theology spits on the Truth that our forebears died to preserve. That said, I do agree with the poster who said that at least Romney's words acknowledge the existence of Natural Law.

Democracies are always at risk of falling into mobocracies, which is what usually happens. While I wish to draw attention to what Plato might have thought of modern day campaigns and why Cardinals don't campaign to become Pope; perhaps at present it is best to suggest the following book: Christianity, Democracy, and the American Ideal, by Jacques Maritain. ISBN 1-933184-01-9 Without properly understood Christian free will, it is not possible to have a well functionning democracy. Why? To be truly liberated, free, beyond manipulation, beyond forced upon coercion, one needs to understand Christian existential living. God given free will is a gift, but it does necessitate immense personal responsibility. Politics and political systems can NOT guarantee true freedom to anyone. They do not possess the capacity to do this. They simply can assist in the enabling of true freedom to blossom, but they can not promise it honestly since it is reality that politics and politicians do not possess this capacity. Christianity is what offers true freedom to people. Politics has limitations in what it can deliver and offer to people.

Sounds like a great speech....almost like Santorum wrote it. I am curious to see if this message carries as the audience changes. If he doesn't waffle, he really could generate quite a following with this.

Romney’s Magic Mormon Underwear protects him from the evils of the world including socialism, homosexuality and taxes on his inherited wealth. Can these sacred garments also make it rain down enough cash for a victory in the race since well over 90% of public offices are bought in our country? Drop by to discuss tighty whities and the role of money in politics at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/05/mitt-romneys-magic-mormon-underwear.html

In an NRO article on Romney's address, the username MormonsAreChristian (a username that has posted here as well) dismisses authentic, orthodox Christian belief by dismissing the Nicene Creed: "If there had been no Nicene Creed or Emperor Constantine, Evangelicals’ theology would be quite similar to Mitt Romney’s In fact, there would likely be no need for the Mormon Church to restore Jesus Christ’s church. Mormons’ theology is based on New Testament Christianity, not Fourth Century Creeds" (see http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/299807/commencing-standards-romney-liberty-kathryn-jean-lopez). Obviously, in this election, there is an assault on Christian Truth coming from both the Democratic party and the Republican party. And it is shameful that Liberty University has given a megaphone at its commencement to a man whose religion so glibly dismisses the Nicene Creed - a Creed which literally saved authentic, orthodox Christianity from the Arian heretics. I am not saying not to vote for Romney. Short of denouncing one's citizenship, voting for Romney looks like it may be the only option, especially now that Obama has come out in favor of homosexual marriage. But do not be deceived. Anyone whose religion dismisses the Nicene Creed and raises up its own false concept of "god" in its place is an enemy of Christian Truth. Mitt Romney is not our friend. At best, he is merely the situational enemy of our secularist enemy. And I'm not convinced he has even enough moral core for that.

A lot of the 'Emergent' Mormons, like Romney, will be using Arbinger Institute techniques to 'schmooze' people - a model formed by one of their key thinkers, Terry Warner, who teaches at Brigham Young University...

I guess this is what is left. To convince ourselves that Romney is "not that bad".
It truly is mind-boggling when you consider that just 200 some years ago the Government of the United States' military literally chased the mormons across the country to exterminate them. Now... we're making one president..?
    "Tolerance".

But what choice to do have?
Obama who has a clearly revealed goal of undermining and destroying the Catholic Church,
    or
Romney who's faith is run by the Masons who... have a clearly revealed goal of undermining and destroying the Catholic Church...?

It's going to be a very bad next 4 years.

    ...Vote Ron Paul...?!
(At least in the Primaries you HAVE TO!)

As a Prot. pastor and college teacher, I am more interested in how Mitt and the GOP Congressional candidate can stand for my values and not necessarily Biblical. What will he and they do on jobs, energy, Iran, China, Russia, education, Dodd-Frank, Obamacare. From his and their views on freedom, he and they are far more in line with my pol, eco, cul. values than any Dem, Bama or Reid or San Fran Nan.

Deacon Keith...don't look for a savior this year or any year when presidential elections are held. Reagan certainly was no savior as he appointed the Planned Parenthood board member, Sandra Day O'Connor. He didn't fight for Bork and he gave us Anthony Kennedy. Santorum wasn't going to be a savior as he said he had a number of "friends" who were homosexual. How can you be a friend with an openly sodimitical man? A friend, philosophers tell us, is another self. Keeping bad company leads to bad morals. Santorum also voted in favor of contraceptives for women and made a deal with the Republicans in supporting Pro-abort Specter in years past. As for Romney, well, he just came out again in favor of homosexual adoptions which is one of the greatest forms of child abuse imaginable. Hold your nose,Keith, and vote for the Mormon. The key to this election is to vote for anyone but Obama.
