Cardinal Timothy Dolan: President Obama's Remarks on Marriage 'Deeply Saddening' Comments
We cannot be silent in the face of words or actions that would undermine the institution of marriage, the very cornerstone of our society. The people of this country, especially our children, deserve better. Unfortunately, President Obama's words today are not surprising since they follow upon various actions already taken by his Administration that erode or ignore the unique meaning of marriage. (Cardinal Dolan) Continue Reading

ER.The Bishop's statement above did'nt once call homosexuality a sin .The Church realizes gays do'nt wake up straight then sometime durning the day the Devil tempts a person into being gay .As for President Obama turninng his back on God, President Bush's Vice President Cheney has an open gay offspring with a long time companion and they have kids ! What kind message was Bush sending?
I hope this is enough to wake up the faithful and turn out at the polls this November to vote out Obama and his anti-Catholic Party.
One does not have to pause and wonder what will become of a nation that exceeds Sodom and Gomorrah in its malodorous debauchery... and what a dilemma for practicing Catholics and other good willed Christians... vote for a democratic president that promotes evil as good or a polytheist republican candidate far removed from Truth... none of the above.
I am confident that Obama will lose by turning his back on God. God rules, not Obama.
WHAT IS MORE SAD IS THAT THERE WILL BE SO CALLED CATHOLICS THAT WILL VOTE FOR OBAMA AGAIN, EVEN THOUGH THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS PERSECUTED BY HIM???
To A Person, the answer to your question is very easy. it is because God wants us in Heaven to live with Him forever. He has given us all 1) free will, and 2) a set of rules to live by. One of those rules is "thou shalt not commit adultery." So, you can say anything you want about "It's not fair that straight people give a bad name to marriage, so why not let gays get married." one doesn't have anything to do with the other. Just because our country sees nothing wrong with adultery, doesn't mean that God suddenly thinks it's okay. We are called to live to a higher standard. Just because everyone does X, doesn't make it right, especially in God's eyes. God defined marriage, and he defined adultery. And in order to make it less confusing for those of us who might be very stubborn, He also inspired Saint Paul to write a bunch of stuff in Romans, that you might want to read in order to figure out how to get to Heaven. It's not that those of us who might be religious want to take away all your fun, it's that we want you to get to Heaven. And we know that if people are willful in their obstinance, it will literally take an act of God to help them actually get to Heaven. It's called a work of Mercy.
Juneau,
In order to be truthful, you need to explore more fully what the Catholic Church is saying, and has said, about this issue. The Church isn't asking for preferential treatment or a theocracy, only that the spirit of the free exercise clause of the First Amendment is respected. Any human being with senses can look around and discern that the natural world is subject to law. Any human being who understands how families are started and organized, and has the proper priority of ensuring the best way forward for the human race should scratch their head at those who wage war on nature through their crackpot philosophies, unsupported by any evidence in the natural world (to include justification for abortion, so-called gay marriage).
I am posting the whole passage because I think it is very appropriate in describing the state of our country:
15 Beware __ of false. prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ravening wolves 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits __ Do men gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles 17 ">Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit 18 A good tree cannot __ bring forth evil fruit neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them
"By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?"
Matthew 7:16
The President has unfortunately been sowing the seeds of this country's destruction for years now. It appears that due to the foolishness of many people that his unfortunate "reign" will continue. The sad fact is that too many people in our country simply associate government (and therefore by extension, President Obama) with a check at the beginning of each month. It is all about what the government (Obama) can do for me - instead of what I can do to take care of myself and my family.
Personal responsibility has been abdicated and replaced with a reliance of the government for all things. Government (Obama) is becoming the source of all things for all people.
Is this not the definition of an idol, and the adulation people give to Obama, idol-worship?
We are selling the soul of country for 30 pieces of silver.
Santorum was ridiculed for speaking the truth and saying the country was under attack by the Adversary, but he was right on target. My fear is that our current President is aiding and abetting that attack.
Christians must unite and put a stop to all of this; it starts with prayer, repentance, and penance. But we also must take action and stand up for what is right; that means making sure Obama is not reelected.
To "A person": If my Doctor tells me that I need to stop smoking, stop eating junk food and exercising I think that I should listen to him. I may feel happier and more free by continuing my old lifestyle and even say that I know people who followed "good heathy habits" and got sick and died anyway, so why not live the way I want to, but who am i kidding?
The Bible and the Church that gave us the bible, are clear about the homosexual lifestyle being "bad " for us and offending the Creator who made us. If we think differently than the Church about this isue, then perhaps it is we who need to adjust our thinking, not the Chuch. The bottom line is, will I choose to follow Jesus, even if I must die to my self and my own wants and desires.
