   I agree with vance, I too thought his directive not to defend DOMA was all the announcement we needed. Maybe he really does want to fundementally change marriage. It's hard not to assume that is a motive given the brazen statements. But let's be honest. Most of you, announcement or not, were never going to vote for Obama. As I've said many times your vote has already been counted (thus the reason we have a moderate conservative as the nominee...if you'll never vote for the other guy, they have no motive to give you what you want, they can choose what suits them). I really do think that perhaps he really doesn't care one way or the other. I think this is pure politics to appease his base. Maybe it changes the vote for a few, but I'm not sure how much given the polling trends. Deacon, this is a great article. But I wish articles like this were being written when the divorce rate started ticking up in our parishes. I wish the church had mobilized the energy to fight divorce as it is now doing to fight gay marriage. I think the failure to do this has caused a loss in credibility. Our failure to uphold the sanctity of marriage, I believe, opened the door to all this nonsense we have today. So many factors have led to the state of our country, and in particular the state of the American church. And I still feel like we are still not actively talking or dolng anything about them.

   The President has unfortunately been helping to sow the seeds of this country's destruction for years now. It appears that due to the foolishness of many people that his unfortunate "reign" will continue. The sad fact is that too many people in our country simply associate government (and therefore by extension, President Obama) with a check at the beginning of each month. It is all about what the government (Obama) can do for me - instead of what I can do to take care of myself and my family.
   
   Personal responsibility has been abdicated and replaced with a reliance of the government for all things. Government (Obama) is becoming the source of all things for all people.
   
   Is this not the definition of an idol, and the adulation people give to Obama, idol-worship?
   
   We are selling the soul of country for 30 pieces of silver.
   
   Santorum was ridiculed for speaking the truth and saying the country was under attack by the Adversary, but he was right on target. My fear is that our current President is aiding and abetting that attack.
   
   Christians must unite and put a stop to all of this; it starts with prayer, repentance, and penance. But we also must take action and stand up for what is right; that means making sure Obama is not reelected

   People are delinking marriage and procreation. It happened with contraception. It is a done deal. You cannot make the argument about kids anymore.
   
   You can’t make the argument from nature (the parts don’t fit) because everyone has the “I can do what I want’ argument. There is no right and wrong. This is being taught in the schools all over. Even Catholic schools. There is no natural order, there is only the order that I make in my own mind. I am God.
   
   You cannot make the health argument – IE, men and women die earlier, get cancer, etc. Because they say, they should be able to do what they want, just like smoking.
   
   It’s a very hard one to argue.
   
   Some are even saying the family unit should not be man and women and children and this is not foundational to any society. This is the last hope really.
   
   If you think a kid needs to be attached to its parents and parents attached to their children, this is the only place left to argue why this is bad and how this will make kids wards of the state because who decides when 2 women and one guy show up saying they all want the kid? Who decides. The man is the sperm donor, the two women raised the kid, but woman 1 was the birth mom and working all day and woman 2 stayed home and raised the kid and is the most attached. So who decides who gets the kid? The state will be left with this task. The kid will lose no matter what.
   
   Divorce, Contraception and Abortion have all lead to these mindsets.
   
   Divorce started out this way too where everyone said no fault divorce would make it easier for the difficult divorce cases. Those small number of people could already get divorced. What it opened was the flood gates to thousands of other couples and millions of kids, who get divorces and ruin our family life and history. I say I because I was a product of divorce. And even at 23, I was torn up. My mother and father are no longer together. It rocked me.
   
   Obama’s very mention of this will cause teens and others to start experimenting, break down the barriers socially, embolden teachers in classrooms and it’s going to be happening all over, just like divorce. The catalyst has begun and kids and the family will pay the price again, just like we are with divorce, contraception and abortion.

   Great article, especially in it's acknowlegement that Obama has always been against true marriage. And where are the black churches? Mum. The really hideous agenda of Obama and his supporters is Fascism/Socialism, the two sides of the same coin, which is Amoral Totalitarian Gov't We are now on the cusp of it's full implementation. The steps to it have already been taken just as Hitler with his SSA Brown Shirts violently bullied Germany into electing him Chancellor. The SSA was almost entirely made up of homosexuals from the Munich and Berlin bathhouses. They enacted Krystylnacht and the earliest persecution of the Jews. Of course once Hitler gained power he sent his other little army of bullies, Himmlers SS, to wipe the SSA. They did so with gusto, killing over 3,000 of them within a week, also known as the Night of the Long Knives. What Hitler did to German society and the rest of the world is well known. We are about to repeat these things. Obama , with the use of false Catholics,gays and missinformed blacks is attempting to marginalise the Church. He and his supporters have openly "queered" the military, so that they support him in an uprising. He, with his Socialist party, tried immediately after his election, to take guns away from the public. His abortion and euthanasia loving supporters are the coming eugenics crowd of the "hidden in plain sight' death camps, aka hospitals, nursing homes and homes for the disabled.Germany was a democracy which elected Hitler. We are making the same mistakes even though the murderers are becoming more visible. It's insane. A good definition of insanity is to do the same things over and over yet expect a different outcome. We have to get these cunning, softspoken murderers out of office. Their supporters will riot violently for a while, but I believe this country can still resist them in a legal and orderly manner. Better to do it now by the vote while we can.

   @-Juneau Alaska--Your feeling your oats right about now that's obvious. ----Personally IF civil unions were being discussed instead of marriage, I would still be opposed on moral grounds.It’s not that we are saying same sex couples cannot/must not receive tax breaks and visitation rights. It’s that we are saying marriage, by definition, cannot exist in same sex couples. The problem with civil unions are also worth noting, however, here does the line get drawn. If the criteria for marriage or civil unions is two people who love each other and want to live together as a legal couple, then we must clearly state which people are eligible for this benefit. Can brothers live together as “married” couples? Mother and son? Man and boy? Father and daughter? Why/why not? They fit the criteria. Every argument you give for same sex “marriage” can be given for a marriage between a father and his son. They love each other. They want the same benefits that other couples have. We have no right to say that their “love” isn’t valid. IF the reasoning given for same sex marriage is good and sound, then it should be able to be applied across the board. If not, then you must rethink why gay marriage should be allowed. Rather than ask why gay marriage should not be allowed, give me reasons that it should be allowed, that don’t also qualify the marriage of brothers, men and boys, mothers and daughters, etc.

   The connection to God comes through hard ways 'cause coming out of Sin is painful unlike the 'Love & fresh air" ways which is to be Complacent unto sin to complimenting it, which is to gay relationship endorsed & promoted by the Obama regime which has always been his agenda known through encountering his source & to knowing that the works of Sorcery are always in deceit & hatred. A Gay person becomes fruitful to life when the person comes out of the orientation through faith in God to connecting with Him to redemption & life but then the work of the adversary is to get the person complacent to the orientation by stating falseness like born gay, natural , pagan beliefs in which gay relations is in abundance etc to keeping the person away from his cross, all of which in the truth are Abominations unto God, in turn leads to bondage & death & to this Obama & the work of his gangs are to the Adversary which is to the Bondage & death through the delusion of sexual liberty that which is called in the Bible as 'Wickedness" on a Ephah to the weight of her wickedness opens her seal, out of measure, clearly seen.

   I think a big problem is that too many Catholics over the last 2-3 generations have been extremely poorly-catechised. They do not know their faith, their faith hasn't grown past Confirmation age, or they lost their faith and don't go to Church anymore (i.e. atheism/agnosticism, universalism, annihilationism). I think about the Catholic major politicians of today and can't help but think of the dissident nuns (LCWR) who support abortion, ordination of women, etc. who are now being reformed. These politicians are in the same generation as or in the next generation that were instructed by these nuns. They were told to do what "feels" right rather than to educate themselves (why does the Church teach what she does) and be obedient follow the Church teaching.
   
   I also think a problem is that people do not know how to think clearly anymore. The laws of logic are lost on these people and when you point out their fallacies they just get angry or call you names. Relativism is full of straw men, red herrings, non-sequiturs, ad hominem, and other nonsense. They also ignore facts and logical proofs that are inconvenient to them, and use a logical fallacy or misinformation to "disprove" these studies.

   Well, I disagree. I remember a point of view from a fairly popular morality series. It goes like this. "Homosexuality is often misidentified as a moral issue. But gay relationships involve no intrinsic harm any more than mixed ones.When classifying harmless things as immoral results in persecution we have reason to condemn the misclassification." Natural Law has no more authority in a secular government than any claim based on Revelation. What is needed is evidence that gay relationships are harmful inasmuch as being any more harmful than heterosexual relationships. This whole debate reminds me of chiropractic nonsense. The chiropractic associations have had about 100 years now to add something novel to the body of medical knowledge. I can count on one hand what they've contributed! LIkewise, religions (not just Catholic ones) have had plenty of time to come up with the evidence for their claims. How much more time do you want? -Cheers! ~Mike

   Finally! The devil is showing his true colours. Pity for those who supported and elected him to the office of the President. Many had been deceived by this man, even many faithful Catholics. Much to their dismay, they should atleast now realize that this person is not who he seems to portray himself to be.
   
   There is way too much hidden agenda, I suppose this is still the tip of the iceberg. There is more to come.
   
   The HHS mandate against the Catholic Church was only their first direct fire at the Catholic Church, there are going to be many more shots to be fired at the Catholic Church.
   
   Woe to those who still believe and trust in this President, for they pretend not to see, pretend not to hear and pretend not to understand the devious and conceited actions of this President and Administration.
   
   If there is still anyone who sincerely believes that this President and Administration would bring this Nation greater glory, I have to say, please wake up and don't be under that false pretense anymore.
   
   If you believe in GOD, that HE judges actions and decisions, words and even thoughts, then you should realize that this President has clearly demonstrated that he is aiming to challenge GOD, like how the people tried to build the tower of Babel and miserably failed. GOD cannot be challenged, HE cannot be defeated and moreover, its like fighting against The Person trying to do us good.
   
   The devil is the one who tries to cloud our minds, to challenge GOD, let us realize his attempts and not fall victim.
   
   At best, I would say that this President is a victim of the devil, I would shudder to think the worst case scenario.
   
   Keep up the Prayer, because devil is ultimately a defeated enemy and we have our Triumphant GOD with us!
   
   Unlike how the muslims are led to believe that their God wants them to kill in His name, our GOD, the one-true-almighty-most holy GOD wants us to remain faithful, faithful to HIM, even under threat to our life, liberty and our pursuit of happiness!
