Thank goodness that common sense has prevailed against the Sodomite attack against the family and God. There is nothing compassionate about giving the imprimatur of the state to the malodorous mortal sin of homosexual lust.

There is no hate in truth. God's word is truth, and the truth needs to be defended in order to have a moral society. On the other hand, moral relativism denies the existence of truth and advocates a false notion of freedom that has failed throughout the ages. Sodom and Gomorrah are one example that comes to mind. Perhaps some would choose to live in such a society, but most of us want to live and raise our children in a society where God's truth prevails.

@S. Darwin-- Are you married and in a committed relationship with your wife? Are you a christian. Are the people of the internet right or wrong who would disbelieve you on both counts. You never actually claim to be a christian, and anyone can say anything about their marriage on the internet. Is it christian like to intentionally falisfy this when discussing this issue? Is it hateful or discriminatory to judge you for what you say? Can only God can be a judge of this? Neither! God tells us to judge. In fact he gives us a huge book, the Bible, to lead us in the right direction. He does not use corrupt political parties to get the message out. He does not use activist to bolg on the internet pretending to be someone who they are not. He does not use deciet to get people to do the right thing. He doesn't force children to sit through adult conversations at their school to get his message out. He doesn't lie about history or change the meaning of words, like marriage, because he has changed his mind on a particular topic. Most importantly, God did not give us rules for himself. He gave us rules and laws to help us. He also does not change his mind just because some think he is unfair.

In the heart of the Old South, TWO in FIVE voters are okay with gay marriage. Forty percent.

    Think about that.

The anti-gay forces have won a battle in a war they have already lost. Congratulations.

Sigmund Darwin, I know several homosexual men and they are very decent, kind, caring human beings. I really feel sorry for them to have to go through life with a same sex attraction. That has got to be one difficult journey. But, other well meaning people like you have glossed over some very serious problems in the homosexual community - problems that are not brought up in the media. Forgive me for being blunt, but anal sex is unhygienic and unhealthy. Imagine uncircumcised men engaging in this activity without adequate bathing facilities. Imagine one of those fellows then having relations with an unknowing woman. Imagine all of this happening in a world without antibiotics. For most of human history, this was an absolutely horrific way to spread disease (infections). Now, in the USA we have access to good bathing facilities, but other problems arise. One of them is anal cancer, which is extremely rare in heterosexuals. Another is loss of control over one's bowels and specific types of urinary tract infections. AIDS also got its start from this type of sex. Now, let's talk about the high rates of substance abuse, domestic abuse, depression and suicide int he homosexual community that results from the rampant promiscuity, which has been proven to exist from numerous studies. It seems that ven men get tired of being sex objects and it eventually affects their psyches. One study showed the average life expectancy for a male homosexual to be only 38 years. All things considered, I do not think it's a good idea for us to encourage people with same sex attractions to act on their desires. Most of the time, doing so will be encouraging them into a life style that ends with an early grave. People with SSA's need love and prayer from their families. They do not need people slapping them on the back and telling them to have fun. That would be the equivalent of giving beer to an alcoholic.

This will ultimately be struck down as unconstitutional under the U.S. Constitution, as applicable to the states, and the grandchildren of those that voted for this amendment will be ashamed that their ancestors voted to inscribe discrimination into the state's founding document.

By tolerating same sex relationships over time, we have come to think of it as a right. We must all agree that it is a sickness. If something wasn't amiss we would never be discussing it.It is not even a christian issue. It is not natural.

Since the Spirit is the basis of life & understanding marriage is by its origin between a man & a woman in the Biblical truth, the opposite of which is from the Pagan beliefs which is called "Demonic" has the truth turned upside down wherein comes gay relationship, the sin mingled with every sin in all the wickedness under the sun & moon & there is no better proof than the ways of man today which is to the Demons. To move in the demonic way to which gay relation being integral to it to death, or to move the way of the truth through Jesus Christ is to crucify Gay orientations & on this, man being a social being need concern for the other lest, he also falls prey to it & for the one who says it is up to God to Judge, God has already judged , the gay filthiness, its wickedness in the lands of Sodom & Gomorrah were burnt to this day as is also Prophesied to be the fate of end time Babylon. Appeasements are to temptations but sounds " Compassionate" 'cause temptations, which is to evil always comes through deceits, the trademark of demons.having false heritages like a Krisn'a to the Avatars, the Pseudo Christ's.

Although this message will probably not see light of day, I will post with faith in God that not all people are close minded. Although I am not a homosexual, and I am in a happily committed marriage to my wife, I see no point to discriminate marriage or domestic partnerships to that of opposite sexes. Just because something is allowed to be does not mean that everyone has to agree with it or participate. It seems as though any law or political platform always has to drag Christianity down to its level. Being a Christian is more than any one law or idea. Most opposing statements to this ammendment seem to be based from hatred and prejudice from people using God's name which feels like a form of using God's name in vain. Are these people wrong for expressing their beliefs? Certainly not, and they should always be allowed to express them. Is it christian like to do this? Only God can be the judge of this. So for both sides who is right or wrong? Neither, both, or none? Not for me to say, but just for me to pray that God's will be done, without violence, hatred, discrimination, or persecution. My only hope is that for those that solely rely on hatred and ignorant rhetoric please educate yourselves and make decisions based off of love, prayer, and education.

Thank God. Is America starting to recognize the joy, peace and happiness that can be gained from living according to God's will? It may well be. In Oregon today, I was a part of another victory, albeit small, for His side. Maybe people are starting to see the emptiness of a life without Him and the ethos of doing whatever you want, whenever you want. Amen
