David Jones on Why Mitt Romney's Mormonism Does Matter Comments

Ultimately, politics is about winning.  If Republicans continue to lose Presidential elections, elections which they should have won, maybe, just maybe, they will finally wake up.  Let us pray this occurs.  It is time for the Republican establishment to stop giving lip-service to the dignity of the unborn. They must stop endorsing and supporting weak (or nominal) Pro-Life Presidential candidates.  Continue Reading

Rob: How many times do I have to say this. ROMNEY IS NOT A COMMUNIST!!! That alone should be enough for anyone. God bless.

Wish our Catholic church would get serious about excommunicating the Pelosi's, Kerry's, Kennedy's and Murray's of this country! Bet our Mormon friends feel the same in regards to Harry Reid! Now here is one way of looking at it. Mitt against Harry! NO CONTEST!

Anti-Mormon publishing is a huge industry with international distribution. The Tanner's are well known in the field (Jerald died a few years ago). I find it interesting that "Chris" can recommend that viewers of this site direct themselves to anti-Mormon writings and that several commenters can specifically attack the LDS Church, its history or beliefs in ways that have no bearing at all to the presidency -- yet Mr. Bartlett does not call out his fellow commenters with a concern that this article has become a trolling site for anti-Mormons. Is it perhaps telling that Mr. Bartlett seems to know so much about Sandra Tanner, whose ONLY claim to fame is in the anti-Mormon industry? - - -

But I will agree with the admonition Mr. Bartlett has expressed in another of his posts: "Ladies and Gentlemen, this discussion is seriously off point... This is not a discussion about the theological issues of LDS"

Or is it? Isn't that what Dave Jones is saying? Policies aside, it is Mitt Romney's MORMONISM that matters? - - -

    My responses have been

    1) to point out that Mr. Jones' analysis fails to consider how Pres. Obama measures up to the same scrutiny given to Gov. Romney.

    2) to ask readers if they can cite from Gov. Romney's own public service history, or from other LDS public servants, where we should be concerned about Gov. Romney's Mormonism.

    3) to indicate where much of the criticism of Gov. Romney is over-the-top, mischaracterized, and needlessly fearful.

JoAnn, so what exactly makes him different? Legislatively Obama and Romney have a very similar records.

This is becoming a trolling Site for LDS apologists. I understand that Mormons are rightly proud of Romney's success but that should not allow them to attack people with other opinions. I find Central Texan's comments about the Tanners particularly in poor taste. For those who do not know Sandra Tanner is a direct descendant of Brigham Young who decided she did not believe that Mormonism is the one and true faith, left LDS and endures daily abuse for trying to publish an alternative view of that faith in SLC.

Please God keep America free, Especially that we can continue to obey our conscience and have the courage to restist laws that would cause us to go against our conscience. Peoples conscience are very precious to them. Especially those who want to live by the Ten Commandments giving to Moses by God. Then his Divine Son gave us the Sermon on the Mount Chapter 5, St. Matthews gospel.

Central Texas.A mormon in the White House does'nt strke the foundations of Historical Christianity because theres nothing in the book of mormon base on historical archaeological evidence in fact I think it's telling that the many mormons on this page did'nt once bring up the book or Joeseth Smith .The mormon church baptizes dead Catholics into their church after death shows what little regard they hold the Catholic Church a mormon rite that Mitt Romney has preform as part of his temple duties .

rob defrancesca: Unfortunately, we did't have a Baptist, Anglican, or Quaker running for office. Sooo, if we don't want an anti-Christian, anti-American, Marxist/Communist abortionist back in office, we will have to vote for the Mormon. Wake up everybody. Do you want to save America or let her go down the toilet. Obama just about has this country where he wants it and has his hand on the lever to flush that toilet. Are we going to let him? God bless.

Rob: I remember everything I said "in the past" about Romney. My biggest problem with him was that he was a "Progressive." Never about his faith. There is one thing that is not wrong with Romney, and that is, he is NOT!!! a Marxist/Communist. That alone should make everyone vote for Romney. OMG - Obama Must Go!!!!!!!!!! God bless.
