The Courage of Bishop Daniel Jenky: Catholics by Conviction! Comments

One of the silverlinings in the ominous cloud threatening the freedom of the Church in America is the extraordinary way the hostility of the new Caesar has mobilized the faithful. Perhaps even more heartening is the way that this growing and open hostility has elicited such courageous leadership from so many of our shepherds. Most recently that kind of courage was demonstrated by Bishop Daniel Jenky of Peoria, Illinois. Continue Reading

St. Michael cast Satan out of heaven by speaking the truth to his insolent face. '' Who is like God ''.In the end it will be the '' Truth " who completely vanquishes him from human existence. In the meantime we fight with the victory guaranteed in his care and compassion.

Bishop Jenky did not equate what Obama is doing to what Hitler and Stalin did....The good bishop merely said there were similarities with, among others, Hitler and Stalin did. This subject needs real academic verification. The problem is that Catholics are not doing a very good job of providing academic level current historical analysis - because all our major Universities have been co-opted by Federal grants into liberal enclaves that are themselves re-writing history in a way that is prejudicial hostile to the Catholic Church. We need a religious community of Apologists to fight this. I'd join if somebody would start such a group...I could help on research...maybe.

In reply to Mr. Donahue...President Obama is remaking the Constitution and turning this country into ANOTHER country. In fact it has already happened, but all the legal changes have not yet been formalized. After his second term election, expect Obama to call a Second Constitutional Convention, and preside over the construction of a new nation of his own making and/or the making of the NSA. This future country is not the United States, and it ALREADY exists by Presidential edict whereby the NSA can seize all national resources in response to an "emergency" which it alone may call, and for which there is no definition. So, we cannot in any way rely on so-called "Constitutional rights" when those rights have already been absconded with. It is far worse than you portray.

Truth is the least thing people would joyously welcome, because it comes with some stings in the ear and also pricks the conscience.Little wonder why our unfortunate brother RON, out of the misery of his shameless decadence, called Bishop Jenky an idiot .May God enlighten him. However,Kudos to you our loving bishop for inspiring us once more.

"All the evils of the world are due to lukewarm Catholics." --Pope St. Pius V

I tip my hat (and kiss my rosary) for Bishop Jenky as he stands up for Christ and His Church, and thank you Deacon Fournier for your "continuing" solid coverage of the Truth which can be found in its entirety (and this is for the lukewarm Catholic) through the Most Holy Eucharist (*after* confessing any mortal sins) distributed "daily" in the Roman Catholic Church. Rock on, dear Lord, rock on...

One commenter claims “The President has never attacked the Church.” Oh, then what would you call his HHS mandate forcing Catholic institutions to provide sterilization, and abortion inducing drugs (which the president knows full well goes against the moral teachings of the Church), what would you call Obamacare’s mandate that insurance premiums had an added $1.00 per month per person to cover the cost of abortions? When Catholics are so uninformed or are just Catholics in name only, they do damage to the Church by ignoring the facts. Allow me to suggest that those who support Obama take a honest look at what he is attempting to do. Don’t accept the spin- take a hard look. And then ask yourself if you can continue to support him with a clear conscience. This is not about political parties or about tax/immigration/spending policies. It is about an attempt to deny the Church its rights guaranteed under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. This amendment reads: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. Therefore any attempt by the Federal government to prohibit the free exercise of religion runs against the Constitution and trying to force the Church to do something it deems immoral certainly qualifies as an attempt to restrict “free exercise”.

I applaud Bishop Jenky's remarks. But, words alone will not energize the faithful. Action plans for his diocese, a commitment to implementation of the plan by all pastors, and a call to participation by all Catholics of the diocese would be a good start.
