Why I'm outraged over the real race war in America Comments
As America revisits old issues of race and violence amid the allegations of the Trayvon Martin case, a lot of attention is focused on the possibility of a "race war" in the US. Racist groups like the New Black Panthers and Neo Nazis have pledged their arms to battle - if one erupts. Still, America is ignoring the real race war that is ongoing in America's streets. While black on black crime is a major issue that needs to be addressed as well, the outrage behind the Trayvon Martin case is not about a Caucasian man killing a Black boy. The issue with this case is that a BOY was killed by a MAN and that man is still walking free without ever being arrested. Regardless of race, this situation should outraged anyone given the facts of the case. The fact that Trayvon was black did add fuel to fire because many elude that the subsequent injustice in the handling of his murder case is due to him being black. So please do not trivialized the outrage behind the Trayvon Martin incident to being merely misguided "race war" aggression and recognized it as a reaction to an unjust situation.
The Trayvon Martin story is not about race to me. When I look at people I dont take their race into consideration as to how I am going to treat them. What troubles me so much is that this young guy got shot to death as he was walking back to his father's house. He dies with George Zimmerman. What were his last moment like? How terrifying! Did he get a chance to pray? Why was he targeted ? Why Didnt George just wait for the police? This is so tragic. Why dont people want to take the humanity of this child into consideration. It also bothered me that he was followed by someone who wasn't law enforcement. Can that happen to anybody? You? Me? If it can , I would much rather the person be unarmed . These type of things make me feel unsafe and I dont like that feeling.
