Fr Dwight Longenecker's Sobering Reflection on 'The Coming Persecution' Comments

There will be no martial law or military in the streets. That would appear to be so un-American! The officers who enforce the mandate will be lawyers in suits bearing legal documents. The battles will be in the courtroom. The penalties will seem just to the majority of people because we are in a democracy and those who disobey the law need to be punished, for it is the law of the land, and after all, if they had not done anything wrong they ... This article is not far from reality. We are witnessing an attack on our church like none in American History. This is an attack on Christianity as a whole. Again I refer everyone to re-examine Mexico's History 1920 to 1940. The church was outlawed and it was a death penalty to practice any religion. The Vatican just canonized 5 Mexican Priests as saints. They were executed by firing squad for serving mass. Can this happen here?? Absolutely!!! We have a diabolic in the White House and many in congress who would gladly make the Mexican experience a reality here. Sadly, these diabolics have a friend in the ranks of the Catholic Bishops and priests. While there are a few who are speaking out, it is just that- only a few. After all that has been said and done, I still hear ((( NOTHING ))) from the pulpit. It is like nothing is going on. This not just dereliction of duty, it is evil to mislead the faithful in such a serious matter. This is like the shepherd feeding his flock to the wolves. The Marxist Media Complex has Blacked out Obama's attack on the Catholic Church. We see and hear nothing on TV about.Obama's attack on the Catholic Church. Unless the Bishops and priests speak up, many will care less.

Amazing story. This may well be FACTUAL in a short time. The CHURCHS version of the "New World Order?' AH YES.

I for one can see Fr Dwight as being most accurate. One just needs to look around and see what has transpired as to the priests who HAVE been debased and called on as to their extreme TALK on ABORTION and Homosexuality Shushhhhhhhhhhh NOW we cannot have opposition to the NEW 'FAITH STATE".

As to freedoms of speech? mmmmm I shall loudly PROCAIM ABORTION and HOMOSEXUALITY as SIN.

We have seen within the last 3 years scandal of such major proportion the likes of MR Obama at Notre Dame. His look of pridefull glee as he was applauded and adulated. Sitting in the audience the now the 90ish Father Hesburgh and his glowing face as to 'The Land O Lakes Conference'. Making sure as to keep any BISHOPS laws from entering too deeply into the Universitys 'Free Thought'. Lest we forget the powers that BE that allowed at Georgetown ..THE FIRST CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY in AMERICA. Who allowed and with fanfare LET MR OBAMA have the audacity to DECIDE and be complied with via the University to have the name of OUR BELOVED LORD covered by a cloth. AS Mr Obamaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa would be speaking at that PODIUM and PRAY GOD to have the name of Jesus Christ engraved in the wood behind him HELL NO...and so the Priests and Bishops agreed and OUR LORDS name was covered so as this monster from the bowels of the earth could speak, YES monster ...As anyone who votes say 4 TIMES as a State Senator in Ill, for NO MEDICAL CARE for babies born alive due to a botched abort. HE IS THE ONLYYYYYYYYYYYYYY POL EVER to vote for such demonic activity. NOW friends we have the issue of science advancement as Mr Obama so proudly announced at his inauguration.......The NEW SCIENCE lest you not KNOW is the adding of aborted fetal stem cells to ALL PEPSI PROUDUCTS and to various food products as to a 'FLAVOR enhancer and PRESERVATIVE'. Just Google THIS about Pepsi and Kansas and other states NOW adressing this matter BY PASSING LAWS forbidding this.

CAN you imagine how GOD must look upon this?? After all he is not just some bystander. HE KNOWS all. AND BTW hows that Pepsi going down?

God in Heaven. YES this will be persecution. I for one shall adhere in my HOME and in private meeting places MY ADHERANCE to the TRUE FAITH. Never abandoning my God as I WAS brought up to NEVER DO.

And PRAY as never before to GOD to RETURN in GLORY and seperate the sheep from the wolfs. AND I may add...there will be many a Bishop in the wolfs category, for they abandoned their sheep BUT of more import their VOW to their GOD. They voted for a monster who made all the above possible.

Assuming that what Fr. Longenecker says here is true, and I have no reason to doubt the accuracy of his dark vision, why then do the majority of people at this site maintain allegiance to the US? Why, indeed, is the editorial staff here still teary-eyed when they hear all those wretched songs like the blasphemous Battle Hymn of the Republic and the saccharine American the Beautiful? Would their eyes also have welled up with water if they had the misfortune of living in the USSR the year old Uncle Joe died? The problem isn't just the moral neanderthals in the pews who are secret Episcopalians; it's also the true blue Catholics who march around with a silly lapel flag announcing their devotion to the Great Satan, or who recite the "Pledge" to an ugly piece of particolored cloth at political meetings as if they were in some kind of secular church.

It is going to be very hard, because for the last 40-50 yrs the pulpit has been very quiet about contraceptive and santity of marriage from priest or bishops and thats why we are having this conversation today, now that the sky is falling on us ,now they see the results of their neglect, that being said, we can turn this around because we have the truth behind us and with God nothing is impossible. We also have the promise of our blessed lady that at the end her immaculate heart will triumph, and we all know Jesus allready won the fight for us , all we have to do is go out and claim catholics!

The sad truth behind Father Longenecker's depiction of these changes to come is that much of the change has taken place already. We have seen many of those with the authority to create these changes bow to the "wants" of the people of the US, their State, community and parishes. Just as prior to the early "60's being a homosexual was considered a mental illness in the psychiatric community, enough of the people practiced the homosexual lifestyle so that the governing hierarchy bowed to that change, making homosexuality a 'norm'. Not only has the psychiatric community made this change, it has long been under "don't ask and don't tell" unwritten rules in the church schools, along with other groupings within the church. This is to say as the people change their beliefs, some of the governing parties who may not believe or support the changes, but go along with them or look the other way, while knowing full-well whats going on.

I believe the finger is being pointed at the US government for the changes the people are believing, living and acting on. Doesn't it make more sense to put focus and blame for cause on the people then? Much of the authoritarian attitudes of acceptance in these changes is aimed at maintaining a following within the church. If the church does not follow suit in accepting the new (right or wrong) behaviors and attitudes of the people, the people will go off and find a new body of acceptance.

Maybe it's time to risk losing some of the radical changes the people demand the church makes to suit our modern cultures lifestyle, and stand firm behind the original doctrines set by the Catholic churches founder, Jesus Christ once again. It almost seems as if the present Catholic fad is to blame government for the problems within the church. The news shows that even the President is asking the lawmakers to adapt the insurance laws with acceptableness for the Catholic insurers. This move is a move our of "heart", while the Catholics scream and cry "persecution"? I don't see any Cathoics being tortured, ridiculed, or otherwise treated within the definition of torture, so maybe time has come to bend a bit, take a look at ourselves, and put blame where it comes from.

JoAnn, the parishes I've been involved in have been great. They do teach the truth in regards to Christ and his Church. But they are singularly focused on social issues. One pastor I spoke to about this told me that sometimes some topics just aren't appropriate for the mass setting when you have different ages of kids etc. He said I won't preach about the evils of pornograpy, for example, in a family setting because some topics we have to defer to the parents to teach. There is a lot of logic to that. In the same way I kept my girls out of the public schools sex ed classes because I wanted to control the message, I see where he is coming from. My current pastor says that he thinks sometimes people get so focused on the social issues that they forget about Christ and the Church. He said that he focuses on conversion mostly because once someone turns their life over to Christ, then what the Chruch asks of them makes sense. They are willing to follow. He constantly says that Christ is always inviting and never forces. I heard this recently. A forced conversion is no conversion at all. God has given us a mighty power to choose...to choose life or death. He has never infringed on that. This sentiment reflects my conversion somewhat. It was not someone telling me what the rules were and then I got on to the path of conversion. But instead, I accepted the invitation and then began conforming my life to it. I think the invitation is what is missing in the culture wars today. We've left Christ and evangelization out of it. It's just a big fight where honestly I see a lot of Christian exhibit a lot of unChristian behavior. The ends are beginning to justify the means. I guess today in regards to where we find ourselves, I can't determine if our Bishops are really upset about the government's action or if they are upset because the condition of the flock has been somewhat exposed. In my opinion, there seems to be a huge disconnect between what is occuring on a day to day basis in parishes and this rallying call to fight the culture/government. And I agree with you 100%, people always choose......to stray or stay.

You mean we're (as in priests/bishops) going to jail?
Say it ain't so.....it has happened already, I know, I visited priests in prison for speaking in defense of life....yup right here in the gulag, oh, sorry, us of a.
It's not coming, it is here.....the blood of the 50+ million marytyrs is the seed of hope....til then, it seems that a few more will be necessary....and many of our own, not those opposed to us, will *yawn* and turn over in their warm bed....waiting for the "call to prayer" from the mosque to wake them.

Rob: One more thing, sheep stray whether they hear the truth or not. There is nothing that can be done about that except pray for them. Pray that the Holy Spirit will grip their hearts and bring them home. God bless.
