US Senate Denies Free Exercise of Religion, Tables the Blunt Amendment Comments

In the history of the United States of America, from the beginning, Catholic Hospitals existed to care for the sick. The Catholic Church is currently one of the very largest health care providers in the United States of America. If this Administration persists in its iron handed effort to compel the Church to bend the knee to a new Caesar, that service to the Nation is placed in jeopardy. It appears that the administration wants to remove ... Continue Reading

Vance, you give the impression that if the Democrats are defeated in November, everything will be hunky-dory. Nothing could be farther from the truth. As a life long conservative and Catholic and a recent political Independent, I can tell you that both political parties are interested only in more power and both are interested in controlling our lives because they think they know what is good for us. We need to wake up to the fact that our country needs a massive change in the Congress (changing one person in the White House won't do it) to break the "culture of corruption" that exists in Washington. We need to convince all of the members of Congress that, if they don't adhere to campaign promises and listen to their constituents, they will be gone at the next election. Until we wake up and act like free citizens instead of sheep, nothing will change!

Does the Church bear any responsibility for events like the HHS mandate? No doubt it could have been doing more from the pulpits to teach the faithful about the evils of contraception etc. It is probably true the Church has been lax in this responsibility. But any laxness by the Church does not change the morality of these issues, nor is it a reason for the Church not to take a bold stand. I have spoken to and written to several prelates asking that the faithful be told, from the pulpits all across this country, that a vote for Obama is a vote against our own Church! The possible consequences of speaking out pale in comparison to the consequences of silence or a timid request to “let us be Catholic”. This administration along with its cohorts in Congress have made it abundantly clear, it is anti-Life and anti-Catholic. It wants to set the moral agenda for the country- might as well have Nancy Pelosi head up the USCCB. Be bold for the truth!

If this keeps up, this administration will give our Bishops will have no choice but to either close the Catholic hospitals and other social agencies which serve non-Catholics, or limit them to employing and serving only Catholics, and I will support them!

Why? Because evil is not interested in serving the common good. It seeks only to destroy!

Where are the people of prayer? Why hasnt the church stood on its feet.and said,no we wont?
What has happened to the faithful. Either take a firm stand asking all to say no, or cave in.
The church looks weak, frightened more of goverment than having the fear of God??

The Catholic Church need to look at this not just as one item but in the overall scriptural mandate, against the present administration's dictates which involves large divorce rates to breaking of the family structure, gay relationship promotions against natural unions & to enticing children in the name of education, Abortions to controls & restrictions to tagging & enslaving the human spirit etc all of this leading to judgements & destructions. The Church has what is known as the Spiritual Mandate, in the understanding, against "The spirit that is working in Obama & his people which one is, a dark one a female, a sorceress, probably a queen at that, dwelling in the tombs & against whom can work St. Antony in Christ, by His Intersession, for he is one who had lived many a years around tombs, against the demons & demonesse's of the tombs", the origin of the mandates to this Caesar & his gang, against Faith & Freedom of body & spirit, against Christ. To this is the present mandate of The Catholic Church to take a serious view in this angle to, in its wisdom.

Why does the Obama administration want to remove the mediating role of the Church in today's society? Because the secular progressives have nothing but contempt for religion - all forms of religion - but they idolise (I use the word deliberately) the State and State Power and the ability of the State to run the lives of all citizens, from birth (when the State permits it) to death (when the State decides it). Make no mistake - we Catholics, and all people of faith and good will, are now facing a concerted onslaught against the family, the community and fundamental freedoms by those who believe only in material power over material beings for material purposes. Obama and those like him are the children of the French and Russian revolutions, children of man's arrogant claim to order the world in the light of cold, Godless reason - not reason as Logos, spark of the divine - but cold, inflexible, intolerant rationalism in the service of an ideology of man which purports to celebrate humanity but which in reality demands the subservience of all men before the new God: the State. The State as the embodiment of order, control. The State as the enemy of freedom because freedom, individual freedom, is perceived as threatening to the grandiose visions of those who - in their delirium - seek to impose their 'solutions', their 'enlightenment', their 'moral superiority' on the rest of us, The State as 'Benevolent Provider', a provider that brooks no opposition, no contradiction, no criticism, a Provider/State that perceives the freedom of its 'subjects' as a threat to its power, a State no longer at the service of its citizens but tyrannising over them, bullying them, undermining them, breaking them down, atomising communities, families, individuals, an entire nation, all in the name of 'Progress', in the name of a splendid future for all mankind, a future without a future, because all is controlled and planned and the flexible, unpredictable beauty of human freedom, with all its creativity, spontaneity, its poetry of the unexpected and the unforeseen, is crushed beneath the jackboot of a new Ceasar that views human freedom and dignity not as something to be cherished and encouraged, but as a threat to its power; not as a rare flower to be watered and nurtured but a vile, disfiguring and inconvenient weed to be stamped out of existence.

Is there anything left to convince us which political party is anti-Catholic, anti-Life, anti-Constitution, anti-American, anti-Christ???? Rob, you have been blubbering about "Both Sides" being guilty. Your Marxist Democrat Party had just proved you wrong. The GOP once again stepped up to the plate and submitted a bill in the senate to protect 1st Amendment Rights and protect the Rights of the Preborn children. BUUUT, your hero Dirty Harry Reid and his merry band of Marxist Democrats defeated the GOP Bill in the Senate. Your Marxist Democrat Party seems to have the stench of death wafting from their filthy chambers.

"In 1985, when the first rumblings of Gorbachev's thunder disturbed the moldy Soviet silence, the holy fools on the street--the people who always gather at flea markets and around churches--predicted that the new Czar would rule seven years. They assured anyone interested in listening that Gorbachev was "foretold in the Bible," that he was an apocalyptic figure: he had a mark on his forehead." -Time Magazine. Most Communists may have been pleasantly surprised when this one man, dismantled the USSR. After all, here was the man who would capitalise a communist ideology. So what if a few old friends brought Islamic terrorism to a weakened Russia?

The inconvenient truth is that Catholic hospitals receive federal money in order to operate, and are thus bound to follow the rules set forth by the government relating to how that money is to be used. If hospitals would rather not follow the federal mandate then they had best look for alternative sources of funding. But regarding the contraception (drugs) itself, the reality is that many women use it for non-sexual reasons. Both of my younger sisters started using birth control as teenagers to control their acne and to minimize menstrual cramps. This is a common practice in the medical community for women's health.
