Cardinal Dolan: Cannot Rest When Faced with so Grave a Threat to Religious Liberty Comments
"If the government can, for example, tell Catholics that they cannot be in the insurance business today without violating their religious convictions, where does it end? This violates the constitutional limits on our government, and the basic rights upon which our country was founded.Much remains to be done. We cannot rest when faced with so grave a threat to the religious liberty for which our parents and grandparents fought. In this moment in ... Continue Reading

What I would like to know,is where were Abp. Dolan and the other bishops in New York, when same sex marriage passed with barely a whimper from the church? While same sex "marriage" is certainly an effect of contraception,(Pope Paul VI humane vitae,1968) It is a much larger issue because as soon as the far left can get this abomination federally protected under "civil rights" law,we are finished as a church and as a nation.
As Archbishop Dolan says it is not about Republicans, Democrats etc spoken in general terms, but the fact is that it is Obama & the democrats in the specifics, not really in the general even though they make it appear so, to their "inward agendas" against Christianity especially the Catholic Church in ways demeaning to the faith, in the name of liberty & secularization, using laws, courts, Judges, threats, appeasings even through using the name of Christ & the faith against Him, through one word "Sorcery". The Bible states it well & let the Biblical truth guide Dolan & his people in the sincerity to the faith & not the (un)truths offered by Obama & his gangs, for Jesus Christ is the truth & them who go against Him in body & spirit have no truth in them, against whom it needs men like.Archbishop Chaput to lead.
Hello again to my dear writers at Catholic.org. I love this web site, it offers so much good information. Which is why I am writing again, to ask the reades to please listen to what is being said in this article and thank God our religious leaders are speaking out about the many issues the governement is pushing upon us. That is why it is key we stick together as Christians and do not allow this President another term. Even if he does resend this mandate, it will just come about in some other form. That is what Obama is about folks, this is what he does. Remember his comments about abortion; that he does not want his girls to have to suffer the affects of an unwanted child. I know of many Catholics that put him in charge four years ago, when it was very clear what his was on his agenda. God Bless America, now more than ever.
This is not a time to be apathetic. If this law stands then what will stop the government from arresting priests who refuse to marry two people of the same sex? Or close a Catholic hospital that will not provide abortion on-demand?
These are troubling times.
May God bless Cardinal Dolan. We need such strong leaders to protect the United States. Look at the founding fathers. Remember the injustice and oppression from which the early settlers fled, why they came to a new land, how they worked hard to build a country under the protection of God because they believed in Him, obeyed Him, and knew He was their only hope.
