I Choose No Contraception, so Why am I Paying For It? This is Really a Mandate Against Life Comments
Caring for a pregnant woman is expensive. Caring for children is even more expensive. Preventing their existence is cheap. Destroying them in the womb is a money-saving act in the long run. This kind of thinking is what this mandate is really all about. This kind of thinking will kill us. Continue Reading

Excellent juxtaposition of the contrasting points....powerfully made. That is the crux of it, isn't it. And if the government mandates what or what isn't "free"...then "personal" choices can be deflected to match "national" goals....the very essence of tyranny.
You have hit the underlying ethical doctrine that feeds the Beast: pure consequentialism or utilitarianism. As a result of our government's rejection of a natural law ethic based upon an eternal, immutable law, there are no moral absolutes, and, so long as the end is good (however defined), all means may be used. Good or bad is defined by an end and means cost/benefit analysis determined by technocrats and bureaucrats. These folks are like Milton's Satan: "evil be thou my good!"
I think an important distinction needs to be made here. People should not be forced to pay taxes for something they think is strongly immoral, and certainly shouldn't pay taxes for murder. But should people be forced to pay taxes for something that the person doesn't use but isn't immoral? For example, I've heard some people argue that since they send their children to private school, they shouldn't have to pay taxes to support the local public schools. I disagree. Supporting the local public schools is a part of living in a community. Your children may not be affected directly, but others' children will.
