President Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast. Catholics Won't Get Fooled Again Comments
During the last Presidential campaign many Catholics were deluded by then Senator Barack Obama. His rhetoric uses language which sounds as though he agrees with Catholics on issues such as our obligation to the poor and the needy. His administration has acted in a manner which proves the opposite. The most egregious example is his failure to hear the cry of the children in the womb. Continue Reading

Way to go Larry, David, Igor and July.
I just have a questoin for Joe and Mary,
Do you both speak out of stupidity? Or do you speak out of ingnorance?
This president reminds me of the child story of the three little pigs and the
wolf disguised in sheep clothing. Unfortunately two of the pigs bilt their house
with materials such as stupidty and ignorance. Foruantely the 3rd pig bilt his house in
knoledge and truth. It goes to show that the catholics who voted for O'bam..
did not do their homework. Knoledged is the best friend of Truth and truth is light. Ignorance is darkness.
I say this to the president, you first! You show us your concern for the poor by giving more than the one percent that he gave to charity! He and his VP only give pennies to the poor. The same with Nancy Pelosi. They want to force us to be kind by government taxes, yet they themselves give nothing to poor. There is word for that, and Jesus used it, hypocrites!
@ Barb,
Come home. Not only did the church vehemently and overwhelmingly overhaul itself as a result of the "priest scandal", but it has also continued to fight for the protection of children vigilantly since then.
You can't walk away from the fullness of truth, the Catholic Church, as established by Jesus Christ Himself, because the presence of sinners in it. There are only 2 without sin, Jesus & the Immaculate Virgin. All the rest of us are subject to sin, and we must "work out our salvation with fear and trembling".
Hope to see you come home. Hope you find healing. God Bless!
To Mary- Obama is a Democrat and he 100% supports and wants to spread legalized abortion. There is no Republican candidate who does that. You say that if a Republican is elected that there will be a revolution and bloodshed. Mary, the blood is already flowing, the blood of 53,000,000 human children who were legally aborted. All the leadership of the Democratic party wants to keep abortion legal. Tell me, when do you want innocent blood to stop flowing anyway. I would say that people like you and the politicians you support have already had their little revolution and innocent blood has been flowing for almost 40 yrs. now. Don't you and your Democrat politicians think it's long overdue to stop? I've never in my life seen such a brutal, cold desire for the spilling of innocent blood as I do from members of the Democrat party and people like you. Trying to frighten the rest of us by threatening" revolution and bloodshed" won't work. Hopefully and legally we will put an end to yours, Obama's, Pelosi's etc ongoing bloody revolution when we vote them out.
The serious and grave mistake on the issue of human life is that the politicians refused the truth which paves the way to violate to the human life.
The anger at the administration is warranted. But if we don't get to work forming the faith of our own, this battle is lost. In the posts I still see a lot faith being put into electing the other politician and not realizing that this march to death is more than one man. We had an R in the office for eight years. I didn't see a massive CAtholic effort to teach natural family planning. I haven't seen a massive Catholic effort to teach faith a morals. We have cute little programs here and there but no real movement and no real fire. Taking kids to soccer games on Sunday and the NFL is still beating us. We will not win this war if we never bring our own to Christ. If we aren't serious about conversion in our flocks, how in the world to we expect to convert the greater society? Oh, I know, we'll elect a republican right? It hasn't worked and isn't going to work. Sooner we accept that the better. Then we can really get to work doing what Christ asked us to do.
I was reading scripture this morning and reflecting on deacon's article above which I have read and re-read. Matthew, chapter 22 seems to be a direct answer and refutation of what the president said at the prayer breakfast. Two points stand out: 22:17-22. Jesus tells those who are trying to trip him up in regards to taxes: "then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, but give to God what is God's." Obviously the question that Jesus is asked deals with the citizenry's responsibility to the state. This can be parsed many ways to the satisfaction of those who choose to parse. But nevertheless, it seems to me that nothing is said here about the rich needing to pay more. If anything, all people are included in this responsibility to the state.
But to me what stands out here is the second part of Our Lord's response: "but give to God what is God's." As Christians, isn't it true that in the final analysis, our lives belong to God? So if He gave us our lives, doesn't it stand to reason that He should be the judge of how and when our lives will begin and end? And not Caesar's? Scripture seems to confirm this when Jesus answers a question from another inquisitor further in the chapter in verses 37-40 regarding the question "Teacher, which commandment of the law is the greatest?"
And Jesus answers him. So doesn't it make sense that if we are to love God with our "whole heart...soul and mind... and our neighbor as ourselves" that the issue of abortion should be settled once and for all? It seems to me that we love all our neighbors by protecting the lives of our most defenseless ones and or by speaking up in their defense. The president's silence regarding this spoke louder than anything else.
Wasn't "fooled" the 1st time about Obama. However, in my moral judgment Kennedy, Sebelius, Pelosi, Biden, Kerry are leading more Catholics to leave the Church than anything. The Church has been turning a blind eye to these false catholics who have done irrepairable damage to our faith and yet divorced catholics are made to feel evil. Hmm.
A perfect example of why I left was during the priest scandal. It wasn't the actions of the priests-although abhorant. It was the church's decision to cover it up. Same goes for this political scenario. What a mixed message!
The only way out now is to vote the Democratic platform OUT!
The Republicans have their issues but at least they recognize the problem.
Jesus told Peter "Get behind me Satan" when Peter wanted to keep Jesus at the site of the Transfiguration. Apostate universities such as Georgetown and others like it should be deprived by the Pope of their Catholic identity which is a sham. Removal of heterodox bishops, priests, and lay theologians by the Pope will clean out the rot and leave a holy remnant--no matter how small. It would be helpful to have an Apostolic Letter that any Catholics who support abortion and euthanasia should refrain from receiving the Eucharist.
Any "Catholics" who left Catholicism because of the above would merely be admitting that they were not Catholics.
Sorry to say, but I think Rob's observations are true..., as are many others here. Pope Benedict (and Bl.Pope JP II as well) frequently talks about the great need for what he is calling the "New Evangelization"--within the Church. Sadly, many--if not most Catholics know little of what the Church teaches in matters of faith and morals any more--or, they have flat-out rejected what the Church teaches (moral relativism). Many Catholics don't want to learn what the Church teaches either! (How many adult Catholics have a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2nd Vat. Edition--and read it?) Our hedonistic culture is, indeed, overwhelming and if we are not equipped with knowledge of the truth--which truly does set us free in a way nothing else can--and the love of Christ and His Church, we will not be able to stand firm in the Faith in these evil times. As for the President, he appears to have had no "sense" of how his "speech" at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast contradicted his "actions"--and his latest "decree" is not the only contradiction....The fact that he even had the gall to come and speak after what he did is amazing; it is also amazing that the Bishops didn't cancel the Invitation--but I guess it was a "polite" thing that had to be done--even though at least some Bishops must also have been working hard to keep from bristling....
