Belmont Abbey College Takes on Caesar: Has a New Catholic Resistance Begun in the US? Comments

We live in a time when the Church is called to be a believing community of resistance. We need to call things by their true names. We need to fight the evils we see. And most importantly, we must not delude ourselves into thinking that by going along with the voices of secularism and de-Christianization we can somehow mitigate or change things. Only the Truth can set men free. We need to be apostles of Jesus Christ and the Truth he incarnates ... Continue Reading

Not only does the federal government have no authority to tell a Catholic University what to teach or preach, or what type of benefits the University have to give, it has no authority to tell a private church or university how to run ANYTHING.

If the University wanted to stop offering ANY benefits to its employees, it is none of Caeser's business!

So even if the suit is a win for the college, it will lose if it doesn't challenge EVERY aspect of Caeser's involvement. Why? Because Caeser goes by "case" law, and if Caeser says to do 10 things, and you only challenge him on 3 things and win, the other 7 are in favor of Caeser and is now "case law"!

Now Caeser usually says that once you accept a student is paying with "federal dollars", ie student loans, federal grants, etc, the University must accept federal involvment and their rules.

So, does the abbey accept Caeser's coins? I don't know, but if it does, then render unto to Caeser!

Want Caeser out? Stop accepting his federally regulated students! And then we'll see how long that resistance will last.

I run a local family supported charity and accept NO donations from and state or federal agencies, assigns, grants, etc, whatsoever.

It so much better that way.

Good Luck, Abbey College. Our family will be praying for you.

This article is spot on. Alexander Solzhenitsyn warned a Harvard Graduation Class about 'Secular Fundamentalism'. This is what he described as an evil force that is threatening our nation. Obama, the Marxist Democrat Party, and its Liberal Establishment is that Secular Fundamentalism which is fast tracking this nation back to the 20th Century killing fields. We as a nation have one last chance this November 2012.

"Resistance" is what GOD has been telling man right from the time of Adam to Christ in Revelations & even more significant today & by the day. This has been clearly reiterated by Archbishop Chaput. The bible states "Give unto caesar what is to caesar & to GOD what is to GOD". But then when caesar starts to interfere with matters of GOD in the Contradiction as is seen today in the policies of the current administration, effecting spiritual matters & as a Christian Catholic we continue to give GOD, thus engaging in the clash with caesar which being inevitable, in the clash of Priorities & that is to GOD more than caesar. This clash is become quiet clear today in tune with the words of Jesus regarding the 'Leaven of Herod". in the law. The future is said to be of the manner " Those who stand in the faith will prevail in Christ & those who remain complacent will fall away

What this little university is doing is wonderful. I will pray that they are successful. There are a few good Catholics out there who are trying to live out the faith and are fighting for a world in which they will be free to do it. God bless them all. My only fear is that what we will see as the century unfolds is a few Catholics holding dearly to the Holy Faith and countless others, from the laity on up to the heirarchy, becoming lukewarm. I have no doubt that the Church will be preserved until the coming of Christ, but we need to pray constantly that too many souls don't fall from grace.
