The Divided State of America: How Long Can We Stand? Comments
We've been bitterly divided once before, and just as the evil of slavery nearly tore our nation in two, so will the evil of abortion and the desecration of marriage. The modern-day battle is for true marriage and the humanity of the child in the womb. In both cases, the conflict demands a final and morally coherent answer. Government does not have that answer. The Catholic Church does. But we're not really "one nation ... Continue Reading

Rob, we have two candidates who are running unapologetically Catholic. Both expressed that they will defund Planned Parenthood and undo all of Obama's abortion mandates. We do have choices this time. There are no excuses for Catholics.
I think more should be made of the link between all forms of sexual libertinism and abortion. It is no accident that many homosexualist groups and feminist groups are united in a pro-abortion stance and support one another's goals, since their agenda is the same: sex, any time, any way, with no strings attached, even if pre-borm babies must die and the meaning of our bodies must be erased. Children who are gradually being indocrinated through public education to accept homosexual activity and homosexual "marriage" as moral "lifestyle cholces" will have little intellectual resistence to the equally common assertion that abortion is a moral "right". (The normalization of pedophilia is the next piece of this twisted puzzle.) For these reasons, we Christians should view pro-life and pro-family issues as being essentially one and the same.
When we as a nation justify the killing of the child in a mothers womb, and have no respect or kindness for our senior citizens, and little by little have justified our behavior, the buy now pay if I can later, I'm entitled attitude intead of getting off your duff and putting in a honest hard days work.and then sit their in bewilderment as to what has gone wrong it's time to get out of the coma! I've had just about enough of all the excuses like the post from Rob who thinks everything stems from whats going on with the economy, get your head out of the sand! If you have no respect for the basic fundamental of life how in the world do ya think everything else is going to end up ok? We get one chance at this and then when it's our time to meet our maker and he ask's " what did you do with the gift that I gave you?" I hope you as well as myself will be able to answer.
" If you love me then obey my commandments" ,
Peace Out
abey, are you really that suprised? The scriptures say it perfectly, you cannot serve both God and mamon. We clearly chose the latter. The natural extension of this is to adopt or get rid of anything and everything that keeps me from honoring the only trinity I care about, me, myself and I. Have a baby, don't want it, abortion. Dems embrace it, so called conservatives decry it, but don't step up and it remains. Heterosexuals make a mockery of marriage, not to worry, there are plenty who will fill the gaps. vance, I'm with you on driving the deviants out of office. But the only people we have right now to replace them with are those whose only god is mamon. And as the social issues we care about fade more and more into the background, it becomes more obvious every day. The only choice that we voters have today is between someone pro abortion and someone who will maintain the status quo. But either way, abortion remains intact no matter who is in office.
Christians haven't been silent or passive. We have made a strategy out of a definition of insanity. We have worked to re-elect politicians from the same two parties that have presided over this incremental move toward a nation that specifically defies God. We've been fooled with flag waving, God-talk and the hope that things will somehow turn out differently this time than they have every other time for the past half century. Elect Democrats and we move in the direction of practical atheism; elect Republicans and movement in that direction is temporarily halted but there is no move back toward sanity. Sure, the Republicans make heartfelt professions of faith in the pro-life, pro-family causes. It's just that somehow, golly gosh darn it, they are unable to fulfill those commitments. Those mean ole Democrats say boo! and the GOP rolls over. It's all pretense, brother and sister pilgrims. Both parties are owned lock, stock and barrel by those whose god is Mammon, and they are not about to allow another deity to replace it. We need to vote for someone else, despite the predictable warnings that it's futile. Both major parties have a proven and consistent track record in upholding the culture of death (note their deeds, not their rhetoric) and we dare not be complicit.
The South will rise again! Tee hee hee and a yeeehaw! Get a life... a holy one then preach to me by example. This world belongs to the Prince, his demonic colleagues and their human minions... and its capital is Washington, DC. Keep believing the lie that this battle is between democrats and republicans... it's a class war pitting a corrupt and morally depraved oligarchy and their bribed political elites, corrupt military elites, corrupt media elites, and corrupt business elites against the poor, working poor and what remains of the middle class. A world war is occurring but it is unlike any previous war in human history. For the first time, people around the world are not identifying and organising themselves along national or religious lines, but rather in terms of a global consciousness and demands for a peaceful life, a sustainable future, economic justice and basic rights. Their enemy is a global "corporatocracy" that has purchased governments and legislatures, created its own armed enforcers, engaged in systemic economic fraud, and plundered treasuries and ecosystems.
DarthJ, I'm willing to accept the argument that the South stood for more than slavery. "Southern pride" isn't all about racism. But you oversimplify things way too much. The 14th amendment did a lot more than limit Confederate influence; it also granted citizenship to newly-freed slaves and tried (ultimately unsuccessfully) to ban laws discriminating by race. Your talk about the federal government "forcing" Southerners to accept certain things, not understanding their feelings or the situation at all. That argument reminds me of an excerpt I once saw from an early-1960's Mississippi history textbook. The textbook, if I remember correctly, criticized the Northerners for naively believing that black people would work rather than goof off when given the choice. Southerners (read: white southerners) eventually ended the terrible era of Reconstruction and set laws that dealt with the Negro more "justly" (read: Black Codes and Jim Crow laws). Have you seen the film Birth of a Nation? You should; it reflects much of what you appear to believe. If you don't throw up after watching more than 15 minutes of it, you might as well call the KKK up and ask for membership.
Who ever thought that even a few years back that this would be the State of the Moral depravity in America today & increasing by the day , that too in the name of liberty, a liberty that even Lincoln would not have bargained for in his wildest visions. But then the The Truth of GOD in the biblical revelations called it long ago, which being the change, change of all changes ushered in by Obama & the democrats to its new name, called "Spiritual Sodom".
"The stage is set for a bitter clash that has no solution." I wholeheartedly disagree with that statement by the author of this article. The solution is Jesus Christ and living in conformity with His will. We all know what that means. No same-sex so-called "marriage", no abortion, no giving in to disordered appetites like fornication, masturbation, no artificial contraception. What it means is embracing ALL teachings of the Catholic Church with love and obedience.
I think the problem is much deeper than economics although that is part of the problem. I believe Americans in general have given up their individual values for organizational values or groups values. In order to do what we want we search for those groups of peoples or those organizations that assert the acceptance of what we want to do because we want to be suppoted in our sins. This may be a reaction to the guilt feelings many felt in their youth when society did not accept many individual sins and the measures used to make us do what was right were social strictures rather than Love of God.
I urge the Church and all loving souls to increase the Faith and love in other souls by encouraging souls to touch each soul we meet as Christ would, instead of putting so much emphasis on all the organizations that have been created to fight the evils we see among us. I am not dismissimg the Church's desire to keep the public in formed but I am saying that in the long run the solution lies in each souls willingness to increase his desire to share God's love with each soul he meets.
