Opinion: Is 'Occupy Wall Street' an opportunity for Christians? Comments

Say what you will about Occupy Wall Street (OWS). Say that it's a communist movement, or that it's financed by the very same establishment it appears to criticize. Say that it's anti-American, anti-freedom, and anti-church. Say that it's filled with anarchists. Say that it's going to be short-lived. But regardless of what critics say, the movement should cause us to stop and think. Continue Reading

Stephany: Thank you so much for the support. Thank God I'm not the only one who see what's coming. As for Rob, in his defense, he said Obama was INeffective. But Rob IS wrong about that. Obama is not stupid. In fact, he is a brilliant man. A puppet, but a brilliant man no less. No one should underestimate him. He has too many people around him that are helping him execute the biggest scam this country will ever see. The "Puppet Master" (I believe you know who I am talking about) has his demons all over the world and nothing short of a miracle from God is going to stop what is happening. The Holy Spirit has to grab everyone's heart because we need a massive conversion. I do pray for Rob everyday and for all who have scales on their eyes that the scales will fall as they did on St. Paul and that they will see the truth before it is too late. Even Billy Graham's daughter, in an interview with Huckabee, believes we are in the end times. All you have to do is read Mt: 24 and connect the dots. The world is in the birth pangs Jesus talked about and the birth pangs are getting stronger. Contrary to what Rob said, it is not doom and gloom because if our Savior is not very far away, it is time for rejoicing. I'm one of those people that likes happy endings. I do not want to see anyone thrown in with the "goats." Again, Stephany, thanks. God bless.

Here I am with you, Rob; I, too, am ready to "go home." But while I'm here on earth, I sure as hell am not going down without a fight. For what is right. And for the America our Founders gave us. It is not when things are rosy that we are at our best. It's the opposite. We are at our best when the chips are down, when it looks like things are as grim as they will ever be, and when it looks like the skies will never be sunny again. We are at our best when we dig way down deep inside of us and find something "more" to carry us through. And we are the lucky ones, because that "more" is grace, it's our "faith, it's being Catholic. We have His promise that he will be with us ALWAYS. Good does triumph over evil. Your friend, Pete.

JoAnn, sorry if I come off harsh. Sometimes some of the right wing stuff just puts me over the edge because I think it's a distraction. You posed the question, do I want the country our founding fathers started. Absolutely. In fact, our country has been trying to be that since the day it was founded. Whether it be a war to rid the country of slavery, fights against desegregation and now the economic injustice we see today, yes I would like very much to live in a country where everyone pulled their weight, honored God etc. But that is the funny thing about freedom. God didn't make robots which means we are always free to choose him or not. Elections have consequences. If we didn't like what FDR put in motion, we sure have had a long time to unwind it but haven't. If we don't like what Obama has done, guess what, they aren't closing the doors in DC tomorrow, they can repeal any law they wish at anytime. As to where we are in our country in terms of governance, well it's where we've allowed it to go. And if the country is going down, well so be it. All good things come to an end I guess. Maybe it's time for another war? Honestly, I just don't care anymore. I will continue to vote and do so in a manner that I feel I'm called to do. I've worn the uniform defending this country for a decade and would do so again if necessary. I know who I am in Christ and what he's asking of me. And for that small part I'll just keep at. I'll continue to pray for our legislators and the American people that someday they will allow peace in their hearts and that we can finally discard the seeds of division. But if we are at end times as you say, then I say bring it. I'm ready to go home.

Rob, there are none so blind as those who will not see. And Jo Ann, thank God for your courage to attempt to bring light into the discussion. Pray for Rob. He thinks Obama is the "one of the most effective presidents" , but couldn't vote for him because of his position on LIFE. He must be terribly frustrated. The great "one of the most effective " would not raise a finger to protect a baby who survived the abortionists knife. It is mindboggling to understand the simpy adoration of this elected official who could care less about the
lives of us and our children. His goal is power and if he cared a whit about this country and it's people, he wouldn't be so hell bent on destroying it through reckless spending,
creating enemnity among the people, and belittling anyone that doesn't genuflect before him. In truth Obama is the absolute worst we have ever had in the highest office in the land. The evidence is spread before us every day. An open mind should be able to distinguish between truth and propaganda. Some only see what they want to see.

Rob: I'm very serious. And what I have told you is the homework I have done on my own because I have seen it before and because I am an avid Bible reader. No other influence. All you have to do is pick up a fair and balanced newspaper and compare it to the Bible. We are in for a bumpy ride my friend. Consider yourself informed with love. You know...there's knowledge and experience with age. You might consider that. We old people are not stupid like young folks and many others would like to believe. We've seen it before. Maybe that's why we know what's going on. The "Progressives" are in both parties but mostly in the Democratic party. As a matter of fact, the Democratic party is dead. We have the Republicans and the Progressives. That's why the last Nov. election - to get rid of them. Somemore will go in the next election, Hopefull Lindsay Graham, Trent Lott and others, if we even have an election. At least we are trying to do something to clean out the swamp in Washington. It was changed a long time ago by the Progressives, starting with Teddy Roosevelt. We are trying to get this country back to the Constitution and the Republic our Founding Fathers gave us. Respect for the sanctity of life, (unborn AND the living,) fiscal responsibility and less government intrusion in our lives. Isn't that what you want also? Or do you want a Nanny State and expect the government to take care of you? Well, that's not for me. I have always been self-reliant and I don't need the government making decisions for me. If that is changing the government (like I read in one of your posts on a different subject) then I plead guilty. It is the "Progressives" that have gotten this country in the mess that it is in and it is the true conservatives that want to get it back to integrity, honesty and responsiblity. It just depends on whether we have enough INFORMED voters or not. Our country is nothing to LOL about. It is on fire. What's so funny about that? God bless.

JoAnn, the only history I see repeating itself is the outcome of the pursuit of power and greed. Whatever stripe you paint it, it's so pervasive in both parties that we aren't moving forward at all. Our government is broken and has been sold to the highest bidder. Weimer Republic??? Are you seroius? JoAnn, I really do not know what to tell you. This country is fundementally changing because we've traded morality and love of God for relativism and greed. And while I appreciate all the doom and gloom about progressives, I just can't get to a place where I ignore what the other side is doing. Between the ever growing segment of this country that refuses to work to the best of their ability and rob and pillage from others whether it be crime or the American taxpayer, or the likes of Wall Street that just plain steals from everyone ($17 trillion is no laughing matter), and the rest who care but are too busy fighting about liberal and conservative nonsense and are so divided they can't get anything done, we are a sinking ship. Maybe the progressive revolution will play a hand in it. But it will only play a hand. The forces that most are ignoring will probably play a larger role. But I'm not going to sit around and watch the Glen Beck nonsense because most of it is just plain garbage. And as far as Obama being some bringer of some sort of Hitler regime, seriously? One of the most ineffective Presidents of our time and he's going to do that? Give me a break. LOL

Rob, Rob, Rob: Just gotta love ya! Obama is as close to being a Republican as I am as close to being the Queen of England. He is not a Dem or Rep. He is a Progressive and is so far off the left side of the map that no one can imagine how far. I don't care what he portrays himself to be. Remember, I've read HIS OWN WORDS. I'm just a simple old lady that loves to read American history and curious as to how this nation got to where it is. If you don't know history, you are doomed to make the same mistakes over and over again. And, if you do know history and DO the same things over and over again expecting a different outcome, you are just plain stupid. Read the Weimar Republic and then get back to me. If you read it, and don't see that we are repeating history, you are as blind as a bat. But, I don't think you will read anything I suggested so I will leave you to your beliefs and pray for you and everyone else that does not see the "handwriting on the wall." I think we have come to an impasse regarding this subject. As I told you before, I hope I'm still around when the USA is "fundamentally transformed" (God forbid) so that I can say I told you so. Maybe I'll catch you on a different subject on this site. I urge you and everyone on this thread to pray very hard for our country. Pray that God will stay His Hand and not take His protection away even though we have abandoned Him. God bless.

JoAnn, you are too funny. I can guarantee that you spend way more time thinking about George Soros than I ever would. While one group tries to spread marxism as you contend, the other tries to spread facism. You have failed to see the other because you are too fixated on what or who you perceive to be the biggest problem. But you indirectly make my point. These wealthy activist are using their power and influence to steer government. I don't care how you slice it, our politicians work for the likes of Soros and Koch and whomever else bankrolls their campaings. For all the talk of socialism, it was not socialism that wiped out 17 trillion dollars of wealth. For all the bogey man stories about Obama, he's pretty much a moderate republican in terms of his economic policies, tax policies and warfighting. How in the world you can over look that just astounds me. You must not have been impacted by the rich looting our economy and treasury. I have found that those who were not don't seem to get it. I too mean no offense, but I think you guys give Obama, Soros and the like way too much credit and way too much power. And you are forgetting that people every single day make their own choices, for good or bad. It's not always a conspiracy. Sometimes it's just stupid choices people make for their own lives.

Do we not know what RISE means. If you go to church and have ears and eyes, of course its opportunity. I believe we owe it to ourselves and our way of life to make the reaches that show if we truly believe.

Rob: One more thing. In my research on the Koch brothers, I'm not reading anywhere that they are determined to collapse our country and "fundamentally transform" it into Marxist/Communist nation. God bless.
