The president of Al-Azhar, an Egyptian university, Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, along with the leading members of the Islamic Research Academy, announced Thursday they are breaking off dialogue with the Vatican in response to Pope Benedict XVI's criticism of Muslim violence against Christians. Forgive the diatribe that will ensure, but this brings up thoughts I have had for a while now in comparing Christianity and Islam:
1a. [Christianity] Pope John Paul II gets shot by a Muslim and forgives the person who attempted to take his life. (Forgiveness)
1b. [Islam] The Imams who are the upper eschelon, although not equivalent to our Pope, offer rewards for the murder of anything from saying something negative about the religion, to being a Christian woman who wants to use the water cooler. (Vengence)

2a. Not drag civil rights into this, but MLK a Christian leader had inspired blacks to work towards equality through nonviolence.
2b. Malcom X, converted to Islam and sought violence as a means to push his agenda forward in the name of civil rights.

3a. Christian nations accept Islam building churches and even adapt the culture to accomodate.
3b. Muslims subjugate, kill and incite to kill Christians in Muslim nations.

The list goes on, but the key point is the love, peace, hope of God seems well reflected by one of those examples and God's adversary is reflected in the other. A culture of death, torturing their own people under brutal laws that have none of the human dignity we try to stand up for. So before I get death threats, I would like to say, that Id be happy if the religion of peace actually was and I fully realize that not every Christian is perfect or Muslim evil. But whether we like to admit it or not, we follow our leaders and what they say and do *is* important.

Who are we to call others evil? Who are we to condemn? As a 14 year old student, I am losing hope that peace itself does not exist. We say we want peace then why not start peace within ourselves? Our Muslim brothers have misunderstood the message, the Pope just wants governments of the Islamic world protecting non-Muslims too and to be free from discrimination, abuse and hate within the borders of their country. What is the use of giving a message when we ourselves don't even try to talk to terrorists to change their ways?

We are not God to judge others. Lets be careful of what we post in the public view. The Muslim religion might have confused ideas but we are not to judge others as evil. Only God knows the circumstances and spiritual weaknesses of each being.

Isn't it interesting that Vatican II told we Catholics that Islam believes in the one God like Catholics? Really? For some, it takes a long time to see the lies of the evil one! Remember folks, he's an angel, even though fallen - much smarter than we!

Muslims in the Middle East have no intention of engaging in religious tolerance. We are in a time period where attacks upon Christains in Islamic countries are either approved of or tolerated by muslims and their govts. Muslims see this as a time when they can attack and kill Christains with impunity while the world, including the US, turns a blind eye. This should remind us of a time back in the 1930's and 40's when Jews were persecuted and the world noticed not..

I applaud our Pope for speaking out to the Muslims for their lack of charity towards Christians and other peoples. Rather than enter the discussions already taking place here, where so many seem to know so much more than I, perhaps a reminder might be in order. We cannot change the Muslims or convert them without prayer. Do you know that when the pilgrim statue of Our Lady of Fatima has been brought to different countries, Muslims show great enthusiasm and even attend church services in honor of our Blessed Mother? Our Blessed Mother can convert the Muslims, where we, as humans, fail to do so. Our missionary efforts and intellectual discussions do little to change the mindset of Muslims. So pick up your rosaries and pray. Pray, always.

Watch EWTN the seeds are being planted for this. The Pope has called for a new evangelization and it starts with all of us. GOD BLESS.

what we Catholics need is not just a Catholic League, we need a new religious community (cleric and lay) called DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH ! educated, orthodox, brave, and good.

A good read is "They must be stopped" by Brigitte Gabriel.
    Vote conservative. Pray everyday.
