Arrest of Abortionist Kermit Gosnell Reveals House of Horrors Built by Roe Comments
There are times when the truth concerning what actually happens in every procured abortion becomes obvious and the Nation is shaken out of its complacency. Perhaps the House of Horrors found in Philadelphia will be one of those moments. What was hidden is now being revealed. The truth is what "Doctor" Gosnell did is no different than what is done in every procured abortion. The only difference is that it is hidden from view. Continue Reading

We as a society value human life. That is evident by many of our laws, among other examples. We as a society also put a lot of faith in science. That's the reason most of us would walk into a pharmacy and buy over-the-counter medications - we trust that science says they're safe. Science says that human life begins at conception. To quote one doctor - "By all the criteria of modern molecular biology, life is present from the moment of conception." Dr. Hymie Gordon, Chairman, Department of Genetics at the Mayo Clinic. Knowing we value human life, and science, which we trust, says life begins at conception, then abortion is wrong at any stage, plain and simple. I don't have to use any of the Church's teaching to know that (and I didn't, I was pro-life years before I was a Catholic).
As to the comment that allowing "fertility control" (contraception) would curb abortion, look at the facts, please - abortion rates have gone up since contraception has become widespread, not vice versa. http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/new-study-links-contraception-hike-with-increased-abortions. And that only makes sense, right? If you don't want to get pregnant, and every contraceptive has a failure rate, the number of abortions will likely go up fairly consistent with that failure rate.
To this comment - "law only allows abortions before the time at which one could make a scientifically sound argument that the fetus has developed far enough to be called human (an egg is not a chicken. Deal with it.)" I'm not sure where you're at, but in my state, you can kill a child up to 9 months for any reason. Also, no, an egg isn't a chicken. A fertilized egg is, however, just like an ovum isn't a human life, but a fertilized ovum is one.
And about back alley abortions - what you're saying is, if we don't make an action legal, the illegal act of it will be more gruesome and dangerous. I agree with your point, but by that logic, we should make it legal to walk into a bank and ask for the money, to which the bank manager must comply. After all, bank robberies are now illegal, so people are killed when they happen. Making them legal would save anyone the need for a gun, right? Of course, I know no one will agree with that (and I don't either), but I'm just pointing out how that logic would work if applied elsewhere. I think many of us are so numbed by the abortion industry's rhetoric, we don't ever question the logic of their arguments.
I concede that this man was definitely outside the law. His mistreatment of women and children to the point of death is staggering. However, abortion also is completely wrong, at any stage. The legality of it doesn't matter; slavery was once legal in the country, too, but I would imagine none of us would think that a morally sound practice, either.
I almost threw up! If this doesn't convince people that abortion is murder then God rest their soul. Where were the upper class liberal pro-aborts when this murderer was running rampant? Oh I know, out sipping cocktails and eating expensive dinners - the hypocricy is blinding.
In response to James:
Most proponents of Row v Wade do argue that it is ok, in fact a right, to abort babies (call them a fetus all you want) at any time and for any reason. I read their arguments about it all the time. Respect for human life is an all or nothing question of morality. You either respect life or you don't. By what objective analysis am I to decide that two month's of development is the right time to place enough value on a living, growing, and developing human life to deserve our societies protection? That is a completely subjective opinion. Whether you choose to use terminology such as zygote when referring to a certain stage of development is immaterial. Maybe another will decide that they will only give value to life at 3. 4, 5, or 6 months. Maybe only when he or she is able to breath on their own, or when they take their first step, or when they start contributing to society by working and earning a wage. Life has value because we are created in the image and likeness of God. It's the fact that God loves us that gives us value. If we leave the question of when to place value on human life to individual subjective opinion what happens? History, and the facts of the case brought to light in this atricle tell the story well.
And for all of you who make the argument that these things will still happen, even if abortion were to be made illegal, I can't help but respond to you as well.
Murder, theft, rape, arson, assault are all illegal, yet we still have occurrences of these crimes all the time. They are wrong and they they are illegal. What's your point?
One last thing. Proponents of Choice are always stating that they want to help women through this difficult decision. Ask yourself this: Why is it such a difficult decision? I'll tell you why: It's a difficult and agonizing decision (which you readily admit) because abortion is morally reprehensible and it is wrong (which you, by choice, choose to ignore).
Thank you Deacon Fournier, for all you do to promote a Culture of Life.
There's a lot of scary people leaving comments here. I'm so glad my parents wanted me regardless of any unforeseen challenges LIFE may have dealt me. Have a heart people; a human heart, were talking about babies after all !!
Thank you Deacon Keith for this article. I only hope and pray that by reading it more and more people will receive the grace to see how wrong this abominable act is. May God have mercy on us.
Great article!
First, science, yes science that the Catholic Church is "supposedly" against, tells us that at conception we have the first stage of human life. Not potential human life, but actual human life. (Adult is a stage of human life, as is toddler.) Second, killing is wrong. With that said, how can abortion be right?
Since the time of Eve and Adam man has attempted to negotiate and regulate Evil. We are fools to expect victory when negotiating with the Father of Lies and Master of Deceit!!
We regulate Porn in the name of Freedom of Speech, and it became the largest industry on the internet.
We regulate Life in the name of compassion and Freedom of Choice, and yet it proves to be driven by greed and fueled by individual want and self serving "choice".
We negotiated Marriage into oblivion by saying that what we call "love" trumps the Sacrament of Matrimony - and now we have record instances of adultery and divorce.
We long for an anchor in a storm, and yet we call the House built on the Rock a dwelling place of the ignorant and "unenlightened". May God have mercy on us all.
I am sure that Dr. Gosnell felt that there was no difference between 'snipping' the child once born and killing the child in the womb. This is clear evidence of that indistinguishable reality Catholics have asserted for decades.
So sad that religious bigotry prevents you from seeing that it is precisely because of the denial of access to fertility control that the Catholic church promotes that devils like Kermit are brought into this world. Jesus preached compassion and love - where is yours?
The New York Times reported that
“The real business of the ‘Women’s Medical Society’ was not health, it was profit,” the document stated. It detailed a practice of selling prescription painkillers during the day, and at night, performing abortions for cash for women who could not get them elsewhere because they were too pregnant. "
What is disturbing is that abortions are made illegal , women who are desperate to have them will still find a way to have them....and we will see the growth of a new underground and unsafe industry of "back room abortions"
