To say that I am appalled by this story is an understatement. The saddest thing about this that this occurrance does not represent the values and motivating force of Girl Scouts at all. In the Girl Scout promise, the FIRST clause recites that a Girl Scouts "honor God"---Girl Scouts is first a spiritual, ecumenical movement. I am proud to report that in the Archdiocese of San Antonio, Texas, (which has supported Girl Scouts since 1948), there are seven LOCAL archciocesan religious reocognitions: Sts. Joachim & Anne (Daisies), St. Agnes (Brownies), Salve Regina (juniors), St. Anthony de Padua (all ages), Our Lady of Guadalupe (Daisy to Cadette) and and newest one, from 2008, Divine Mercy. On Sunday, March 14, the bishop will recognize 18 girls who have earned the Marian award, the highest national Catholic religious recognition for senior girl scouts. We have usually at least 3 Catholic religious programs evey semister. Last Fall the Catholic Committe of Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas sponsored Brownie Blessing which celebrated the 200th Anniversayr of the founding of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton's order. In December, 800 Years of Franciscan Order was celebrated at Mission San Francisco De Espada, founded int he 1700s by the Franciscan Order. In January, the Girl Scout Troop that created the Divine Mercy Religious Recognition helped about 20 other older girls earn that award (last year they helped 40). Other members of other demoninations as part of the Interfaith Committee have produced other faith-based initiatives and programs this year also. For all this good work of the Holy Spirit to be confounded by such an evil event would be wrong. The Girl Scouts of good will and spiritual strength need to make their voices heard in that the rougue group in New York does NOT represent us---Planned Parenthood has NO place in Girl Scouting, at least not in this council. I am reminded of that famous quote: "All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men (and women) to do nothing." If we don't want to see Girl Scouts taken over by Planned Parenthood, we need to let our councils know our views and activvely support Catholic and spiritual Girl Scout programming. And, above all, PRAY that God will bless our efforts and our girls.

The content of the brochure is disgusting . It is not sex education, it is PP attempt to entice young people into being unresponsible, immoral and into their doors from the consequences. Shame on PP for involving GS in the devil's work! Local GS ate scrambling on how to respond to something far removed from what we do and what GS stands for. Holy Family, pray for us...

This is a misleading article. The event is a United Nations event, not a Girl Scout event. Planned Parenthood distributed the brochure, NOT the Girl Scouts. The headline is blatantly false.

Is nothing sacred in our new Marxist America? This is just disgusting and dispriting.

I had no idea, until recently, of these kinds of activities and I'M A GS LEADER! I've been doing a lot of research and have learned that Girl Scouts as a whole DOES NOT GIVE MONEY to ANY organization; not on a local, state or national level. NONE! Troops have the choice to participate in programs that might include this type of information, but only with their parent's signed permission for these "sensitive issues." I'm sick to learn that this sort of thing is even an option and makes me ashamed to be in Girl Scouts, which makes me really very sad. Girl Scouts have provided sooo many wonderful opportunities and special moments in my girls' lives. PP has NO business even being associated with GS. That's a parent's job to provide sex ed!!!

I hope most people understand that sort of programming is NOT standard for GS AT ALL!!!

Email the Girl Scouts and tell them that you disapprove of this action. Their contact information can be found on their website here:

I am just as sick over this. Is nothing sacred anymore? Not only has PP destroyed the sanctity of marriage but now they are going after our children. This is a deliberate act of Satan and needs to be stopped.

"Talk about or act out your fantasies. Talk dirty to them." Sounds like a genuine path to demonic possession.

...I do not believe this at all.

Why has this web site become such a favorite of dishonest right wing propagandists? Is it because the editors who read these things are gullible or is it because they agree with dishonest journalism that promotes right wing politics.

This is really sick. I think that a boycott of the Girl Scouts is in order. Take your girls out of that sick organization. I am sure that parents are not sending their girls to Girl Scout meetings in order for them to learn how to be sexually active. This is repulsive. Parents take a stand against this evil.
