Ruben Diaz is a bigot. Pure and simple. Not a Christian in any meaningful sense of the word, but a pathetic, sorry man.

Diaz can have all the rights to his opinion in private life. He is not entitled to beliefs at my expense. He will be replaced. Kindly don't censor opinions different from this hate group blog. Thank you.

It is much more loving to preserve marriage than to desecrate it. One man and one woman join in union to create a child. That child needs both a mother and a father. A man and woman join together to become one and the celebration of the sacrament of marriage is the oldest historical law for the good of the family. The bible is very clear and we used to have sodomy laws based on Judeo-Christian values. Those who want to destroy what God has made have taught people to forget or never learn of these values. Read, pray, and ask God to reveal these to you. Thank you for your courage Senator to do what is right in the eyes of God. I pray that our families become stronger; not divided.

I recently showed my high school students a documentary about the integration of the Little Rock, Arkansas high school in the 1950's. In the film, a minister is shown reading from the Bible as a justification for continuing segregation and discrimination against blacks. Enough said.

John, that is an extremely poor argument. Would you say that poor people have no right to advance themselves in society? That's what the rich said before humanism.

@Keith: Gay couples do not need the "same rights" as married people. Your wording suggests that single people are somehow less of a citizen because they do not enjoy the benefits of marriage as granted by the state. (a.k.a tax breaks)

Homosexuality isn't going to go away as it has been around since Biblical times. We're just making sure to keep it in check such that it does not become a normalized practice for the sake of our children.

I agree with John Taite. Frankly, opponents are on the wrong side of history, and future generations will wonder how it ever could have been that committeed, gay couples were denied the license to marry by the State. They may even ask the same of their Church.
