You know ,I was thinking Mr obama , that award should go to the father,s mother,s wives and families of the men&women that have lost lives in the name of peace after all they are the ones that deserved this they. paid a very high price for peace.
I am, of course, catholic and against abortion. But I roll my eyes when I notice the Church supports a bloody war monger like Bush but hates Obama merely because he is not anti-abortion.
If the Catholic Church is ONLY interested in abortion and cares nothing of the thousands slaughtered due to Bush, then it's time the Church look within itself and change.
The Church is NOT a political entity...save souls, not votes for Republicans.
Congratulations to our President for be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. I have been reading articles in this site for several month and the replies that are written about these articles. One conclusion that I believe about many of the authors and the people replying on this site is that most of the articles and replies represent the conservative line of the Republican party propaganda.
President Obama did not originate abortion in our country. In fact, he stated on several occasions that he wants to eliminate the need for women to choose abortion for the problems they have to face in their lives. He wants to eliminate the reasons that many women choose this terrible solution. Too bad that many in the rest of the world realize that this President really wants to improve the lives of people. Unfortunately, it seems whatever our President does will be rejected by many of the people who write and respond on this site. We had eight years of George Bush who did very little to help the poor in this country. Bush left us with two terrible wars and tremendous deficits in our economy. I pray that President Obama will be able to bring peace and fewer abortion to our world.
Earnest Bunbury, who on this article has called Obama a savior?
Martha, since my last comment didn't get posted, all I can say is, I'm sorry you've gotten that impression of me.
Justin,
The law wasn't "made" by Nixon, or anyone else. It was "interpreted" as part of the Constitution by an activist Supreme Court. As a matter of fact, the law had come up in states a number of times, ALWAYS and REPEATEDLY voted down. The judiciary forced it anyway. Ya wonder why people don't take an interest in voting anymore....
Any good student of law, and even those who are in agreement of Roe v. Wade (the 1973 court decision) will admit that it is "bad law", poorly interpreted. The supporters can only claim precedent as a standing. Precedent means its been in place, so whatever poor decisions were made to put it there, it does not matter anymore, because it's been in place for so long.
You are right that the Church needs to do more to support the men and women facing a heart-wrenching decision. Just remember who the Church is. Personally, I have to remind myself everyday.
You wouldn't get angry at someone blind that knocks down your personal belongings. He can't see, its not totally his fault. So it is with the soul that can't see. Its to simple.
Max the only real losers are in hell---I pray none of us meet that eternal fate. Thank God Jesus paid the price and gave us all a great opportunity.
Wait...Did anyone catch the fact that there is actually a person with the name 'Earnest Bunbury' ? Bahahaha !!!!
@ Dan: as with any kind of debate with people like you, it's as if you were arguing with a 2 by 4. You've had all the time you're going to get. You lost. It's OVER.
Its a broken record that keeps playing and playing the same thing and the same way with the same results. That's called insanity. Fr.Corapi said things won't change in the world because things won't change in the Church first. No fire of the Holy Spirit in the Church, no fire of purification in the world. That simple.
