Fr. Jenkins,
As a fellow brother priest, I pray you can Surrender to the authorities of the Church. This is not a matter of allowing living pride or standing firm on your subjective views or opinions. I ask you to take the path of humility and admit you are misguided & you will submit to Christ in us, His Church, Relativism is a grave evil, and I hope you can escape its viscious jaws. God bless you!
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Jim Maderak
It takes a lot of courage and verve to write such a thing, such as once was abundance in leaders like Leo XIII.
I am so glad that someone is pointing out the travesty in this happening at OUR LADY's UNIVERSITY. How much more will we offend Her and Her Son?
This is a strong stand, some might say too strong- but its about time Catholic leaders starting taking them.
Only 200 bishops to go....
I am so proud to be Catholic and extremely proud to belong to the Most Reverend Bishop Doran's Diocese!
On behave of the 50,000,000 innocent victims of the infanticide
of Abortion no one should receive this President of the United States or anyone who espouses an anti-Right to Life agenda.
Thanks Bishop Doran for a great article. I am a ND alum and am also very upset about Fr Jenkens decision
Thank you, Your Excellency, for being a true Shepherd & speaking out....I pray that Fr. Jenkins hears the words of so many & honors Our Lady's Name by respectfully uninviting Pres. Obama.
Who is in charge anyway? Do the Bishops of the country have any authority over what is taught and what is practiced as our Faith in the Catholic Universities? If not, why do we have Catholic Universities? To keep the Faith, to preserve the Faith, and to keep OUT all erroneous teaching. When did Father Jenkins get his Staff and Mitre? Cannot his decision be OVERTURNED by the REAL preservers of the Faith, the Bishops?? Sounds like the inmates are running the asylem!! God give us clergy with BACKBONES!! Peg Volz
Way to Go, Bishop Doran!
You are quite right in stating that Father Jenkins has allowed other obscene events, etc. onto the campus of Notre Dame. And unfortunately this is not the first time for a pro-abortion speaker either. I do hope and pray that Father Jenkins finally understands that our outrage is not going away, and rescinds the invitation to Obama. This is the straw that broke the camel's back. Enough is Enough!
Let those who have donated to Notre Dame in the past desist and instead give to the many outstanding Pro-Life groups that are fighting for the rights of these our youngest brothers and sisters AND tell Notre Dame.
Let those who may consider coming to Notre Dame to look at other Catholic universities instead AND tell Notre Dame.
Unfortunately it is the pocketbook that speaks loud and clear to Notre Dame.
God have Mercy on us for allowing this kind of behavior to continue and grow.
Thank you Bishop Doran! It is a joy to see some of our bishops standing up for truth. It may be unpopular with mainstream America but practicing Catholics, true to our Faith, will be encouraged to, seemingly at long last, have our bishops stand against this tragic decision made by the, obvisiously, errant leaders of Notre Dame. I only hope more bishops stand up. Abortion and embryonic stem cell research are more than single issues, they are life issues, the foundation of all rights as human beings. If we do not protect life, then we protect nothing.
Hasn't Fr. Jenkins taken an vow of obedience to his superiors, which is his bishop, John M. D'Arcy, who disagrees with Fr Jenkin's decision?
