I hope and pray that Fr Jenkins rescinds his invitation. But, if he doesn't what shall we do? Turn a negative into a positive and use this event as a springboard for ALL Catholic's faith to come forward and stand up to the US Government (don't we the people run this country?) and demand from our Congressmen to abolish abortion and embryonic stem cell research in America.
It is time for the 30 plus million Catholics to come out of hiding and defend our Christian beliefs. Look what a few concerned and devoted mothers did to the Drinking and Driving laws in America. There is absolutely no reason why Catholics in America change the abortion and stem cell research laws. If we don't take a stand, then who is the hypocrite? How will we ever be allowed eternal salvation if God knows that we witness millions of innocent deaths AND DID NOT DO ANYTHING?
Really? WOW. My entire family has gone to Notre Dame and you know what? It's a wonderful school. And they aren't inviting the president as an abortion spokesperson - they're inviting him as the President of the United States, which the school has a tradition of doing. Why do you all CARE anyway? The senior class, to whom the speach is goign to be addressed, for the most part don't care. It's not about you. It's about them. Obama's not going to give his commencement speech about Planned Parenthood and condoms. Grow up, really.

It is truly a pity that the Congregation of the Holy Cross and the Bishops gave up their ownership control over Notre Dame in the 60s to a board of fellows and a board of trustees that have strayed further and further from the Catholic identity of Notre Dame.

It is worth noting that the Documents of the Second Vatican Council did not use the mentioned title (Mother of the Church) of Our Lady. Keep up the good work elsewhere however
