I am embarrassed and appalled at Fr. Jenkins invitation. It is a slap in the face to our Catholic teaching and sends a terrible irrevocable message to President Obama and the rest of the world about Notre Dame's regard for Catholic teaching.

By this overt scandelous action of inviting President Obama to give its commencement address and awarding him an honorary degree, Notre Dame has forfeited the qualification of a "Catholic" University. The best way to make sure this is clearly understood is for pro-life Catholics to boycott the Commencment Exercises and for pro-life donors to cancel their endowment arrangements for the University. This is a travesty and Fr. Jenkins will reap the whirlwind.

Hopefully, this is the nadir. Hopefully, this will be the last wake up call to all Catholics of what the last fifty years of permissiveness has done to our religion. The Lord said the gates of hell would not prevail against us but He did not say how close it would come. Can it get any lower than this, where the president of a leading Catholic University is "honored" that the leading pro-abortionist in the country accepted his invitation to publically address this year's graduating class? What shame! What a disgrace.

Maybe the time for Divine Intervention has come because we the faithful are losing this battle and by a wide margin. The more Obama throws his abortionist ideology in our face, the more we curry his favor. He knows better than we how weak we are in our faith and will use our vunerability to his advantage every chance he gets.

Just look at all the so-called Catholics he has on his team. After every recision of a pro-life directive, he appoints another "Catholic".

He is playing us like Nero played his fiddle and we're in awe of his charisma while thousands of the unborn die day in and day out. Where is the outrage of our Bishops at the open defiance against the Church's teachings. Yes, there are a precious and courageous few, but, for the most part, all we hear is "silence" with a capital S.

The second largest Christian denomination in this country is made up of fallen away Catholics. I fear that soon it will be the largest. May God have mercy on us all and forgive us for letting this happen by the permissiveness we have tolerated for so long.

Shame on you. You are a priest. I think you should spend time with JESUS. You will know them by their fruits

With reference to the final sentence of this article, perhaps neither the invitation nor Fr Jenkins should remain. Apparently, Fr Jenkins missed the meeting with Pope Benedict at Catholic Univ in Washington, where Benedict admonished those who purport lead Catholic institutions of higher learning to actually and actively embrace the teachings of the Catholic Church, and excel in the mission of forming Catholic conscience in the students in their charge.

Notre Dame has betrayed me, my family and my Faith. I have contributed thousands over the last few decades...not one more cent. Who will receive the honrary degree next year? Judas Iscariot? I think the Laetare Medal recipient should refuse to accept, in protest.

This is an unspeakable outrage. Where is the South Bend-Fort Wayne bishop? Where is the USCCB? Where are the decent members of the Holy Cross? Are there any? Where is the flipping outrage? Our Blessed Mother weeps...

Shame on Jenkins...shame on the Holy Cross...shame on the trustees...shame on the alumni!

Not another penny from my family! Notre Dame, change your name!

I hope that Fr. Jenkins would lose his position. He needs a letter from the Pope.

As a child who watched Notre Dame football every weekend with her father, and bled blue and gold, all I can say thru my tears is " SHAME, SHAME FOR OLD NOTRE DAME".

I have always though of abortion as death to any Baby. I cryed very hard when i heard this. I will pray the rosary over this. My daughter went to this university. Wake up Catholics and stand up for your rights.

    Thanks Billie J Alonzo
