PASSIVE ABORTION
In current times, sometimes a conversation drifts to politics. Some people [ Catholics ] ask me for my opinion/preference. I tell them O’Bama. Many/most of the time, the first word out of their mouth is “abortion.” They say they voted for Bush and are leaning to McCain because they say they are against abortion.
I have been thinking about this.
Personally, I disagree with O’Bama’s position on abortion. I have been a democrat who opposes abortion. But I support O’Bama because I do agree with most of his social and economic, etc., policies. This is why I support him.
So I got to thinking about the GOP, Bush, McCain, et al., and their position on abortion. They proudly proclaim to be against abortion. Yet they are for capital punishment, war, torture, etc. most importantly, their economic policies have created many more “poor” people. Then I remembered reading about how the USofA has an abysmal infant mortality rate. Especially among the poor and “minorities.”
It then struck me, that the GOP, Bush, McCain, et al. are guilty of “passive abortion.” They create the policies that prevent many from receiving prenatal care. They create the policies that prevent expectant mothers from getting medical care. They create the conditions that cause the high infant mortality! So, while they proclaim to be against abortion, they allow many babies to die from lack of health care and money. They stand by and watch this happen. This is like passive-aggressive behavior. They allow these children to die and do nothing about it.
An then, once a child is born, it is on its own. They fail or refuse to make health care available. So we have high infant mortality. Once again, passive abortion.
For this reason, Catholics should be supporting O’Bama.
Your thoughts??

It's sad that our leaders don't take full responsibilities for direction. Sen. Pelosi has made a mistake and The Church is also not understanding the issue. Most people would agree that if the Church and public gave adequate help and viable orphanages young girls would have options. The politicians and clergy have let us down. Not enough emphasis on life and it's dignity is causing thousands to lose their life's.
I think Pelosi and others who claim to be Catholic and continue to insult the faith on being Pro-Choice should be thrown out of the church. If someone gets Cancer you do not let them die, you cut out the tumor so that they can live. We should do the same with the Catholic church, the cancer being those in the public spot light that are openly for abortion and gay rights. People are leaving the Catholic church because of people like Pelosi. If the Catholic church is to survive, its time to cut out the "cancer" from our religion and faith.
Thanks for God's grace in Native American Archbishop Chaput and his effective good fight against committing abortion.
Motherhood is to be revered and protected. Mothers are to be respected and supported. It is Never acceptable to kill an innocent person, in the womb or otherwise. This is not only Catholic teaching, it is a part of natural law. When we disregard natural law, civilization will decline.
A strong Amen to the Bishop's words and my thanks for them standing firm in the faith. The arrogance of Pelosi (and other pro choice politicians) makes me angry. However that anger turns to sorrow when I realize the danger their arrogance poses to their souls, and the souls of those who listen to and follow them! Lord, have mercy on them and on our country!

Thank you, Archbishop Chaput, for speaking clearly and unambiguously in correcting House Speaker Pelosi's misinformed and misleading comments.
How encouraging it is to have you say plainly and simply what needs to be said to her and all those who could be confused by her words.
Excellent article! Thank you Bishops for standing up for Truth!
Speaker Pelosi did not frame her discussion in terms of the government's right 'to lawfully imposed actions on a woman's body,' She chose to speak about her (mis)interpretation of Catholic belief. Brandon, you may not like the fact that the Church is the sole authority on Catholicism but calling it propaganda is rather missing the point.
When Senator McCain makes a ham handed attempt to invoke the Catholic Church to justify his own politics I trust the Bishops will be on it.
