If Obama is Pro-Life then I'm Miles Davis...
Come on, really, are you serious???
He has a 100% consistant pro-abortion voting record! Let the record speak for itself. I'm extremely disappointed in Catholic.org for running this false news story.
Now, if you were a German in 1933, could you have voted for Adolf Hitler? After all, the only issue wasn't racism. Hitler had many good economic policies for Germany and was a big supporter of the arts. I guess you could have voted for Hitler as long as you weren't voting for him for his racist policies.
Another way to look at your support of Obama is this: Suppose Obama supported the legal killing of 5-year-old children. Would you still support him? There really is no difference between killing a human at birth(which Obama believes should be legal) and killing a human five years after birth. But you can stop whining about being refused Communion. There are only a handful of priests who have the correct anatomical equipment to speak the truth to power.
Mr. Kmiec, you ask, "but what about a candidate like Obama who is not pro-abortion, but of the view that the civil law best leaves this question to the mother in consultation with their own clergyman and doctor? "
First, Mr. Obama most certainly is pro-abortion. His voting record bears witness - as does the NARAL endorsement. Second, the "question" (as you put it) involves the deliberate murder of a helpless baby; no prattling of any clergyman or doctor will change that immuatable fact. Third, no combination of any other social issues will ever eclipse the overriding weight of abortion, that leaves dead at least 4000 babies every day!
I for one salute the priest who denied you Communion. He understands the issues. He understands that you are placing your immortal soul in great peril by your support for Obama. He is exercising his responsibility as a priest to help you see the immense damage your support of Obama is doing to you and others. I only wish other priests and bishops had his courage. Please reconsider. And yes, please repent.
