The International Theological Institute (ITI), a papal institute in the neighborhood of Vienna, Austria, is an Ecclesiastical Theological Faculty for the study of Catholic theology as a unified whole. A particular additional attention is devoted also to the theme of marriage and the family. The ITI offers programs in Sacred Theology with academic degrees recognized by the Holy See. The principle language of instruction is English. Regular reading of difficult texts and class discussion of them is demanded of all students. The program of studies focuses on the Western as well as the Eastern theological traditions. In addition to Scripture, students read the original writings of the great masters, including St. Irenaeus, St. Anselm, St. Thomas Aquinas and Newman, to name only a few. The ITI has a diverse international faculty with an excellent faculty to student ratio.
