Gay Activists Denied Communion at Catholic College Mass by Archbishop Nienstedt

institution of civil society. He has shown what I recently called "Episcopal Courage in Defending Marriage and Family" and is being singled out for his courageous defense of the truth. He recently sent out a DVD defending marriage and calling the faithful to do so with their votes in the upcoming elections. This is the reason he is being opposed by homosexual equivalency activists.

Homosexual sexual acts, even if engaged in with one partner for a long time, are not the equivalent of a marriage, no matter what any court or legislature may say. The reason that marriage - and the family founded upon it - has become the foundation of civil societies across ethnic, geographical, religious and racial communities is because it is an institution revealed by the Natural Law which can be known by all through the exercise of reason. Marriage is not simply a "religious" construct. It must not be redefined or replaced if we hope to promote the true common good. The effort of the "Human Rights Campaign" to equate how one engages in non-marital sexual acts with a member of the same sex to being a member of a particular race or gender (thereby making practicing homosexuals a "protected class" for civil rights purposes) is legally and socially dangerous. One is a status; the other involves a behavior and a lifestyle.

Though disputed, some maintain that same sex attraction is a genetic predisposition. Even if it were the case, that should not give homosexual practice a "civil rights" status. Should we then give other disordered appetites civil rights status? Certainly, those who engage in a homosexual lifestyle should be treated with the human dignity that they deserve and not be discriminated against. However, that is because they are human not because of their sexual behavior. Homosexual sexual acts are simply homosexual sexual acts. Our bodies do not lie, they speak the language written within their constitution and confirmed in the Natural Law which binds us all.

The Homosexual Equivalency Movement is now engaged in open defiance right within the sanctuary of the Catholic Church. This offense against the Church masquerades as a call for equal rights. Notice the name of the organization at St. John's and the use of the term "sexual minorities". This group also uses the language of compassion. In reality the Homosexual Equivalency Movement is engaged in an effort to censor the Catholic Church and radically reconstruct western culture. Exposing and opposing these activities is an important undertaking.

Those in our midst who struggle with same sex attraction need to be given the truth which will help to set them free. They should be shown true compassion such as that offered by authentic ministries to homosexual persons like Courage http://couragerc.net/ which is faithful to the teaching of the Catholic Church. Dissident groups being assisted by Organizations like the Human Rights Campaign such as the small group at St. Johns Abbey must be exposed and opposed by all faithful Catholics.

Wow!God bless Archbishop Neinsted! You are truly the shepherd of Jesus Christ.& a true defender of the Catholic Church. You are one good priest..Agreed that Jesus was a forgiving & merciful God for all sinners but he did not teach that we can receive him in disobedience to his teachings. under the Magisterium of the Church.all Catholics should follow the teachings of the Church without question. That is why sisters & brothers it is very hard to be a Catholic because we have to follow& obey the Commandments of God. To Know him, to love him & to serve him we do not choose & pick. Homosexual act is a sin because God did not intend humans to enjoy their feelings and emotions through sex but sexual intimacy is a gift given to man & woman to procreate & have children.
I think practicing gays will twist & turn every angle of logic in order for others to accept their agenda. Still we have to pray for them for we are all children of God.

Hooray for a bishop with a back bone.
Sadly, too many commentors said the bishop was wrong. Praise God the bishop does live by popular vote. One of the rainbow clad idiots in the article said that the bishop shouldn't use the Eucharist for political purposes. What EXACTLY was the rainbow guy doing? Using the Eucharist for political protest! He is a hypocrit. A person who is acting in such a way as to cause scandal, is committing a mortal sin. The bishop was doing his job by denying him and the others Christ's body. Those types of protesters have no intention of "going and sinning no more" [paraphrase of Our Lord's command to the harlot] and we all know it. God created man and woman as complimentary beings. Man plus man or woman plus woman equals zero.
The Spirit be with you Bishop Nienstadt! Thank you Catholic Online for bring this story of a heroic defender of the Faith.

We need more people like Archbishop John Nienstedt that serves God and us instead of the world. We homosexuals like the others have to live a life in Christ not a life in the world, to be a Catholic is a joy and I hope that in the future more people will take this path.

Eww. How trashy, not to mention arrogant, of the archbishop. His behavior is exactly what Christ would NOT do. I suppose his antics affirm why 68% of American Catholics say in polls that the bishops exercise "little to no moral leadership." Sadly, being the loudest, most hateful right-winger is what gets the Vatican listening and lets a bishop shed that purple shirt for a pretty red dress and red hat.

"Jesus didn't play politics with communion. He offered his body and blood for everyone."

Jesus died for everyone. However, he only offered his body and blood in the Eucharist to his apostles. Remember, he waited until Judas left before he offered his body and blood in the Eucharist.

the HRC is not a gay lobbying group. I belong to it and I am not gay.

It is a group which calls for the Human rights (respect and caring) for all human beings. It's time, isn't it, that we did what Jesus did? Welcome "sinners" if that's what you want to call ur sisters and brothers in faith.

May Archbishop Nienstedt and the other US Catholic Bishops continue to take a stand for Christ. May He continue to strenghthen them as they bear witness to the truth of the Gospel. Christ never said it would be easy for His followers ,but He said He would be with them.
The Archbishop was right to refuse them the Most Blessed Sacrament ,
One cannot receive communion if one is not in communion , if one is openly going against the teaching of the Church, and showing such disrespect for the Lord and His anointed.
Bishops and Catholics of America, stand strong.
